ON THE MOVE: IEX’s Salmon to BitGo; DA Davidson Snags Monfort in NYC

Trade Informatics (TI) has landed Andrew Shortland as Chief Executive Officer EMEA where he will be responsible for the continued expansion of Trade Informatics’ international client base as well as building a team of data analysts and client service professionals to provide local support to the clients based outside of the US. Prior to joining TI, Shorty was Head of International Equities at Jefferies and helped build the firm’s equities and ECM businesses in both Europe and Asia. He also sat on the board of Jefferies International and was a member of the firm’s Risk Management Committee, the Global Equity Operating Committee and the Markets Strategy Committee.  He is based out of the London office and reports to Matthew Celebuski, Global CEO of TI.

Rob Salman, the trading veteran and early IEX employee, has found a new home in the cryptocurrency world. Salman joined crypto custody provider BitGo as its new head of business development, reporting to CEO Mike Belshe.

Ballast Equity Management announced the hiring of David Mertens as Partner and Head of Business Development. Mertens joins the firm with over 35 years of investment industry experience. Most recently from 2002-2017, Mertens was Managing Director of Jensen Investment Management in Lake Oswego, Oregon.  Prior to that he held the roles of Senior Vice President of Berger Financial Group, LLC and President of Berger Distributors, LLC in Denver, Colorado.  He currently serves as an Independent Trustee for the Advisors Series Trust.

Thasos, an alternative data intelligence firm, hired Chris Metaxas as its new Chief Revenue Officer. Metaxas joins Thasos from Digital Recognition Network (DRN), a location data and analytics company, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for six and a half years. Before DRN, he was a Senior Vice President of Sales at LexisNexis and prior to that, he served as President and CEO of MetaPartners LLC.

Confluence announced that Joe Bree has joined the firm as Senior Global Strategic Account Executive. In this role, Bree is responsible for expanding Confluence’s global relationships with fund and asset management clients, as well as other service providers and intermediaries. Bree comes to Confluence with 20 years of experience in financial services, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Business Development at U.S. Bank Global Fund Services. Bree reports directly to Domenic Ionadi, who was recently promoted to Vice President, North America Business Development.

Deutsche Bank recently added John Polito to its Corporate Trust and Agency Services Group. Polito onboarded as Managing Director, Head of Trust and Agency Services West Coast Sales.  Before joining the bank, he spent more than 20 years at The Bank of New York Mellon, where, most recently, he served as the Executive Relationship Manager responsible for Investment Managers.

Moses & Singer reported that Howard Fischer is joining the firm as Partner in its New York City office.  Having served as Senior Trial Counsel at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (“SEC”) throughout the past decade, Hhe will be working in the firm’s White Collar Defense and Securities & Financial Litigation practices, while also sharing his expertise with other relevant practice groups. Prior to trying cases for nine years at the SEC, Fischer served as a partner at Schindler, Cohen & Hochman LLP (“SC&H”) in New York City, a securities and finance litigation boutique.

D.A. Davidson & Co. onboarded Timothy Monfort as Managing Director of Equity Capital Markets in its New York office. Monfort will oversee the capital markets and syndicate teams, responsible for origination and execution of capital raises for D.A. Davidson clients. Prior to joining D.A. Davidson, Monfort was Head of Equity Capital Markets for Seaport Global Securities in New York. His extensive experience in the securities industry also includes positions at Morgan Stanley, Hambrecht & Quist and Head of Equity Capital Markets at Jefferies. He is a graduate of Fordham University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Wilshire Phoenix added Mason Stark as a Partner and Head of the firm’s newly-formed Alternative Investments Division, Wilshire Phoenix Asset Management. Stark began his career at Granite Capital as an Equities Analyst and Trader, before leaving as the Head of Granite’s Trading in 2000 to join Ramius Capital Group (RCG), where he eventually became a Managing Director. After the merger between The Cowen Group and Ramius Capital Group in 2010, Stark with two other members from RCG Hedged Equity went on to found Ballast Capital, LP, and was successfully seeded by Investcorp. From Ballast, he went on to numerous consulting appointments, including research roles at Ambi Advisors, and as an Independent Representative with The Healy Group.

Global FinTech firm InvestCloud reported Mark Trousdale joined as Chief Growth Officer. Trousdale has held various positions at the FinTech firm since joining in 2012, most recently as Chief Marketing Officer, based out of the firm’s San Francisco office. Prior to InvestCloud, Trousdale held leadership roles within the Asset Management Advisory practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Comgest, the independent, international asset management group strengthened its Global Equity team with the appointment of two Analyst/Portfolio Managers: Alexandre Narboni and Richard Mercado.

Narboni, having already worked for over a decade with Comgest, has transferred from the Group’s US Equity team where he was one of the key decision-makers. Richard joins from USS Investment Management (London) and brings with him over 18 years of investment experience specializing in US and Global Equities. The Group has also hired Louis Citroën as an Analyst to reinforce the US Equity team following Narboni's transfer.

Drawbridge Partners, a cybersecurity consulting firm specializing in the needs of hedge fund and private equity managers, appointed Viktor Tadijanovic as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Tadijanovic will oversee the company’s overall technology strategy and lead the engineering, product and customer engagement teams. He brings more than 20 years of IT governance, technology architecture, platform development and corporate strategy experience to Drawbridge. Tadijanovic most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer at Abacus Group and was responsible for corporate development initiatives.

BNP Paribas Asset Management hired Chris Ouellette as Head of CSR (Corporate & Social Responsibility) within its Sustainability Center. Ouellette comes from Manulife Financial Corporation, where he was Head of Global Corporate Citizenship, responsible for the company’s global sustainability strategy, environmental risk management, sustainability reporting and communications, and stakeholder engagement.  Prior to this he held various sustainability roles at Royal Bank of Canada, where he was part of the team responsible for integrating sustainability across RBC’s business units. Based in Paris, he reports to Jane Ambachtsheer, Global Head of Sustainability.
