2016 STANY International Reception and Holiday Party

The Security Traders Association of NY held its annual International Reception and Holiday Party on November 17th at the Bryant Park Grille. The event featured a panel session discussing international issues - as well as the ongoing US Tick pilot program and inter-listed markets issues. A holiday toy drive- Toys for Tots - was part of the festivities by the US Marine Corps.

Markets Media Women in Finance Awards Luncheon - Part 2

The second annual Markets Choice Awards: Women in Finance luncheon took place on Tuesday, November 15. Held at Tao Downtown in Manhattan's trendy Meatpacking District, the event convened more than 250 market professionals from institutional investment firms, hedge funds, trading desks at the biggest global banks, exchanges, and technology providers. The awards methodology was as follows: Markets Media’s editorial team identified the best candidates via interviews with the senior market participants who are their colleagues, customers and competitors, as well as online submissions from Markets Media's subscriber base. From there, consultations with our WIF Advisory Board winnowed the field to the most deserving recipients, and final internal deliberations -- often not easy -- hammered out the winners. Congratulations to the winners!

Traders Magazine Holds Inaugural Equity Market Structure Town Hall Forum

Traders Magazine held its inaugural Equities Market Structure Town Hall Forum event on Tuesday, November 15 in New York City. The forum was a unique, content- driven event featuring a single keynote speaker followed by several roundtables. Each roundtable was its own ‘conference within a conference’, populated by senior traders, exchange and technology executives there to debate the most pressing issues in the institutional equity markets. The Boston Security Traders Association gathered on Thursday, Nov 3, to celebrate the harvest season and begin its holiday philanthropy push. The affiliate organization is hosted its Harvest Party at Society on High for a fun filled networking event featuring cocktails and appetizers to celebrate the start of the holiday season.

Baruch College Presents Financial Markets Conference: “Liquidity: How to Find It. Regulate It. Get It.”

The Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College hosted its annual Financial Markets Conference on Tuesday, November 1. The topic, “Liquidity: How to Find It. Regulate it. Get it,” focused on new approaches for creating liquidity featuring four industry panels and keynote speakers from the Federation of European Securities Exchanges and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Bloomberg Tradebook Global Charity Day 2016

This year fifth annual Charity Day, which raised money by having celebrities act as sales traders saw the firm hit 50 percent of its goal by 11am. In the last four years this event has raised nearly $4 million in trading commissions in support of charitable causes. Georgia STA Golf Outing

The Georgia Securities Association, an affiliate of the STA, held our 41st Annual Fall Outing on October 6th and 7th. There was a solid turnout of approximately 150 attendees from over 70 firms in attendance in spite of a few last minute cancellations due to travel concerns related to Hurricane Matthew. The Thursday night event started with a happy hour at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, which led into the presentations portion of the event.

On Thursday, October 13th, STAC held its annual Texas Hold’Em Tournament. This events draws 200+ poker players competing for prizes and bragging rights. This year’s event took place at Gibson and Hugo’s Frog Bar and featured other gaming activities for non-poker players. Proceeds go to the STAC Fund – the group’s scholarship fund.

Wall Street Rides FAR for Autism Science Foundation

Hundreds from the Wall Street communities gathered in Saxon Woods Park in White Plains on Saturday, October 8 for Wall Street Rides FAR (For Autism Research). The bicycling event was held in support of innovative, life-changing research funded by the Autism Science Foundation. Cyclists set off on the 62-mile, 30-mile, 20-mile, and 4-mile bike routes in the Lower Hudson Valley.The event raised over a quarter of a million dollars which was donated directly to the cutting-edge, science-based research that is funded by the Autism Science Foundation.
