ON THE MOVE: Northern Trust Makes Key Hires; Gary Norcross Leaves FIS

Northern Trust has appointed Steven Reydel as Head of North America Fund Accounting and Michael McMaster as Head of North America Fund Administration. With 20 years of fund accounting experience at State Street and Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), Reydel will be central in establishing and growing the Northern Trust GFS business in the Boston area. Most recently, he was head of BBH’s Global Fund Accounting operations team and the Fund Accounting Product Executive. Bringing more than 25 years of experience in financial reporting and taxation, McMaster is returning to Northern Trust GFS where he started his career. He most recently served as Chief Tax Officer ̶ Head of Global Fund Services Tax at Invesco, overseeing teams across North America, EMEA and APAC.  

Gary Norcross

Gary Norcross, who has been FIS CEO since 2015, leaves the company and his position on the board. FIS president Stephanie Ferris, who was set to take on the CEO role in January, is now taking up the job with immediate effect. Norcross had been set to take on the role of executive chairman but FIS is now making Jeffrey Goldstein, currently lead independent director, independent chairman. In addition, the company added Mark Ernst, who had been EVP and chief operating officer at Fiserv, as a board member.

Tourmaline Partners has hired Matt Ney as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Trader, based out of the firm’s Connecticut headquarters. Ney joins Tourmaline Partners with fifteen years of experience at Viking Global Investors, including eleven years of experience trading US equities and specializing in Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT), Industrials and Energy. For four years he ran Viking’s London office, overseeing all European equity trading. 

Taskize has hired James Pike as Head of Business Development. Most recently, Pike held the role of EMEA Head of Client Operations and Global Head of Institutional Client Services at Morgan Stanley and prior to this he was Global Co-Head of Equity Operations where over the 17 years he held a number of middle office roles in EMEA and Asia covering Fixed Income and Equity businesses. 

Archax, a digital securities exchange, broker and custodian, has appointed Harold Duineveld as Head of Europe. Based in Amsterdam, he will spearhead Archax’s presence across the EU as the company expands its regulatory applications within the region too. Harold brings over 25 years’ experience and a deep understanding of the Financial Services industry, specialising in execution and clearing of Exchange Traded and OTC derivatives and market infrastructures. 

EY has hired Mark Jannetta to run its first fintech lab, based in London. Jannetta has spent the past seven years at Barclays, latterly working directly with fintechs in the innovation space.

Matthew Jefford has been appointed as Business Development Executive of Appital. Jefford brings over 30 years of experience working in the global financial markets, with a highly successful track record in Equities, Equity Derivatives, and Fixed Income. Prior to joining Appital, Matthew was Electronic Sales Trader at ICAP.
