BATS Global Markets Unveils Executive Team

The newly merged connectivity firm announced its executive team with players from both benches.

Following the SECs approval of the BATS Global Markets and DirectEdge Holdings merger late last month, the new BATS Global Markets has unveiled its combined executive team.

Joe Ratterman will remain BATS Global Markets CEO with DirectEdge CEO William OBrien joining as President. Ratterman will be based in Kansas City while OBrien will work in New York.

Both men will be part of the newly formed BATS Executive Committee, which will include:

Bryan Harkins as executive vice president, head of U.S. markets. He will oversee U.S. market strategy, pricing, sales, and product development for the combined company. Harkins joined Direct Edge in 2007. He will report to Mr. OBrien and will be based in New York.

Mark Hemsley will remain CEO of BATS Chi-X Europe, a position he has held since BATS Europes start in 2008. He will continue to report to Ratterman and will be based in London.

Chris Isaacson has been named executive vice president, global CIO and he will oversee technology strategy, software development, IT infrastructure and security, as well as technical and market operations. He is a co-founder of the firm in 2005, works in Kansas City, and he continues to report to Ratterman.

Tami Schademann is executive vice president, chief regulatory officer. She is a co-founder of the firm and will report to OBrien from the her Kansas City office.

Brian Schell is executive vice president, Chief Financial Officer. Eric Swanson is executive vice president, general counsel.

The BATS senior team post-merger will consist of Anthony Barchetto, senior vice president, business development; Bryan Christian, senior vice president, U.S. sales; Kevin Carrai, vice president, connectivity and member services; and Jim Gorman, vice president, communications.
