ON THE MOVE: Names Clark to Replace Selway

ITG has promoted Doug Clark to Head of Market Structure for the Americas, following the departure of Jamie Selway. Clark has more than 20 years experience in the financial services and investment industry, starting out as a trader at CT Securities in 1995. He was one of the original team members of ITG Canada when the Canadian operations were launched in 2000. In his new position he is responsible for research relating to index, ETF, market structure, liquidity event and market impact in markets across the Americas. Previous jobs include running the program and electronic arm of a large Canadian bank, and prop trading equities and derivatives for a large Canadian trust company. Doug currently serves as Vice Chair of the U.S. Security Traders Association, and he is the former Chair of both the Canadian Security Traders Association, as well as the Ontario Securities Commissions Market Structure Advisory Committee.

Eric Anderson, the former global head of equities and prime technology at Nomura Securities, joined Barclays as a managing director in its New York office earlier this month according to eFinancial Careers. Anderson has over 18 years of experience and specializes in algorithmic trading, equities execution, low latency applications, and derivatives.

Maitland, a global advisory and fund administration firm, has announced the appointment of its newest Senior Client Service Manager, Frank Ferrara, as part of the continued expansion of its private equity fund administration services. Ferrara will work alongside David Dwyer, Business Development Manager – Private Equity and Ben Pershick, Head of North America Private Equity to manage a growing new business pipeline, client onboardings, and existing relationships. He previously worked for two New York-based private equity firms, most recently Rhone Group.

Ryan Labs Asset Management Inc., a Sun Life Investment Management company, has formed a five-person Leveraged Finance Group to the firm. This new division of Ryan Labs Asset Management brings expertise in managing senior loan portfolios, and third-party managed collateralized loan obligation (CLO) investments. Led by Mark Pelletier, who assumes the role of Senior Managing Director & Head, Ryan Labs Leveraged Finance. Pelletier will report directly to Richard Familetti, President & CIO, Ryan Labs Asset Management. Michael Cerullo, Christian Toro, Dana Dratch and Juan Miguel Estela also onboard as Managing Directors and report to Pelletier. The Group, which formerly made up the senior members of American Capital Leveraged Finance Management LLC (ACLFM) where they worked together since 2005, will be based out of Ryan Labs Asset Managements office in Manhattan.

R.J. OBrien & Associates announced that Elena Patimova joined its London-based affiliate, R.J. OBrien Limited (RJO Limited), as Senior Vice President, Business Development. In this role, Patimova will help the firm further grow its electronic sales, clearing and voice execution business while also raising the profile of RJO in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Patimova reports to Adam Solomons, RJO Limited Chief Customer Officer, EMEA. Patimova most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Market Sales for the London Metal Exchange (LME). She joined LME in 2015 as Head of Commodity Buy-Side Sales. She was also Business Development Manager for global proprietary trading firm OSTC Ltd in the UK from 2012 to 2014. From 2009 to 2012, Patimova was Business Development Manager, Commodity Derivatives for NYSE Liffe in London.

Macquarie Capital appointed Katan DSouza as a Managing Director in its North American Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) business. Based in Chicago, DSouza reports to David Dorfman, a Senior Managing Director and Head of TMT and Services at Macquarie Capital for the Americas and Europe.He comes from William Blair & Company, where he served as a Managing Director in the Technology Investment Banking group. He brings more than 17 years of experience originating and executing M&A and capital markets transactions across the Communications and Infrastructure Software industries. Previously, Mr. DSouza held positions at Thomas Weisel Partners and BMO Capital Markets.

Relatedly, Stephen West, most recently global head of risk and analytics at Barclays’ investment bank, withresponsibility for the technology used for trading across asset classes, including equities, foreign exchange and credit,left last month and joined Macquarie as head of technology for the Australian bank’s commodities and global markets group and chief information officer in EMEA.

The New York Stock Exchange lost an executive to cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, according to a blog post by the company. Eric Scro is set to join the San Francisco-based company as vice president of finance. Coinbase, which has been at the heart of the crypto boom, told Business Insider it expects to double its team from 250 employees to 500 in 2018.

Theres trouble at Bank of Americas equities business, according to media reports. Following the departures ofWhitfield Hines(head of EMEA equity derivatives flow sales),Guillaume Arnaud (head of EMEA solutions sales and structuring) and Roy Martins(head of global equity swaps distribution), there are reports the bank has received resignations from Alexandre Fleury, global head of exotics trading, and Florent Sabot, head of exotic equity trading for EMEA and Asia.

Syed Fazil, former CTO of Bloomberg Tradebook, has joined the executive team of Celsius Network, a P2P Proof-Of-Stake borrowing and lending platform running on the blockchain. Fazil started his career with Dow Jones before spending the majority of his career at Bloomberg in various engineering roles where he lead a large engineering team spanning multiple continents and timezones. While at Bloomberg, Fazil streamlined operations by implementing agile development methodologies and moving legacy software systems to open-source environments. He also implemented Tradebooks US Equity matching engine which included a smart order router that achieved 150X greater order flow.

Folger Hill Asset Management has hired a new director of data research to work in its New York office.Chris Tierney joins Folger Hill from Alan Fourniers New Jersey-based long/short equity hedge fund Pennant Capital Management, where he was a data analyst for nearly two years, according to his Linkedin profile.Tierney previously worked as a data manager at Philippe Laffonts tech equity hedge fund Coatue Management for over four years.
