Panopticon Unveils Visual-Analysis System

Panopticon, a data visualization vendor, announced a real-time trading analysis system that provides the buyside and sellside the ability to chart trading profitability and trends.

The customizable data-visualization system lets traders monitor and analyze trading and risk data. Through interactive desktop dashboards, users can perform visual data analysis using heat maps, tree maps and graphs, rather than spreadsheets.

"The purpose of our tools is to reduce the amount of time required to find outliers and patterns in large amounts of fast-changing data," said Hugh Heinsohn, vice president of marketing at Panopticon. "With our tool, people can spot problems and opportunities in a few seconds, as opposed to hours."

The system is located right on traders’ desktops as part of their order management system. It can also measure performance between traders or trading desks, venues or products.

Heinsohn said the data produced by the system is retained in a database, enabling traders and portfolio managers to compare the latest real-time performance information with daily, weekly and longer-term historic trends.

Users can also visualize the relative success of alternative trading strategies in their algorithmic trading systems by programming new algorithms into the system and analyzing the results.
