On The Move: Ex-Goldman Trader Joins UK Hedge Fund

Capula Investment nabs Matt Reid and names him portfolio manager. Plus, ICE names two COOs.

Capula Investment Management has poached a Goldman Sachs Group credit-derivatives trader and named him as a portfolio manager. Matt Reid has reportedly joined the London hedge fund after his years of trading indexes of credit default swaps at Goldmans, where he left work last month.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Reid served at BNP Paribas SA until 2012. According to Bloomberg, Capula opened its doors in 2005 and is known for managing global fixed-income hedge funds. Goldman Sachss own Petershill fund bought a stake in the UK fund in 2008.

In other Traders People Moves, Intercontinental Exchange announced two COO appointments last week.

David Farrell, who was previously senior director of global soft commodity operations, has been promoted to COO of ICE Futures U.S. Meanwhile, Hester Serafini joined ICE as COO of ICE Clear U.S. and started at the first of the month.

Farrell joined ICE in 2012 and has held leadership roles in market supervision, product management, commodity operations and, most recently, head of global soft commodity operations across ICE Futures U.S. and ICE Futures Europe. Before joining ICE, he oversaw the development of commodities trading and risk management products at Kiodex, a division of the global software firm SunGard (FIS).

Serafini is responsible for managing the clearing house operations and interpreting and implementing regulatory changes. She hails from J.P. Morgan, where she led the OTC clearing and intermediation business for credit, FX and rates derivatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before that, she was global head of credit prime brokerage and clearing for Deutsche Bank.

Farrell reports to Trabue Bland, president of ICE Futures U.S. Serafini reports to Tom Hammond, President of ICE Clear U.S.
