BlueCrest Money Manager John McNiff Said to Leave Hedge Fund

The New York-based former co-head of commercial mortgage- backed securities trading at Bank of America Corp. joined BlueCrest in 2012.

(Bloomberg) — John McNiff, a money manager at BlueCrest Capital Management, has left the hedge fund, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified because the information is private.

The New York-based former co-head of commercial mortgage- backed securities trading at Bank of America Corp. joined BlueCrest in 2012. Ed Orlebar, a spokesman for the firm declined to comment. McNiff didnt reply to a phone call, e-mail and message left on his LinkedIn profile.

Founded bybillionaire investor Michael Platt, BlueCrest has seen a number of money managers leave since December when the firm said it will return about $7 billion of client money to focus on managing Platts wealth and that of his partners.The departures include Daniel Escobar and Jihan Bowes-Little in London andSteve Waugh in New York, according to people familiar with the matter.

The firm, which plans to retain all of its offices and said in December it anticipates strong growth in assets, has hired money managers Nikki Martin and Tom Ayres. Both previously worked at Ivaldi Capital LLP.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. trader Roy Aviner, who left the bank earlier this month, also plans to join BlueCrest, a person said last week.
