Societe Generale to Launch Dark Pool

French bank Societe Generale is planning to offer its European dark pool to U.S. traders next year, according to a report in Financial News.

The launch of AlphaY in the U.S. follows a two year upgrade of SocGen’s electronic trading facilities, according to the report, and reflects increased demand for dark liquidity in the U.S.

SocGen only launched AlphaY in Europe about a year ago to help its derivatives desks hedge their trades, and provide its buyside customers with access to this liquidity. SocGen is the largest equity derivatives trading house in Europe.
