Compass Point Grabs Ex-KBW Execs for New NYC, Boston Offices

Compass Point Research & Trading, a full-service investment bank specializing in the financial services industry, is opening new sales and trading offices in New York City and Boston. It is staffing the offices with three Keefe, Bruyette & Woods sales traders.

KBW completed its merger with Stifle Financial in February.

The three sales traders have shifted to research sales. The Washington D.C.-based broker-dealer has  hired a total of four ex-Keefe, Bruyette & Woods pros to staff these offices: Robert Keane, Alexander Krasutsky, Peter McCorry and Paul Mattaliano.

Keane, Krasutsky and Peter McCorry join as senior vice presidents in equity sales in the New York office. Their new digs are at 340 Madison Avenue. Mattaliano comes onboard as director of sales in the Boston office, located at 470 Atlantic Avenue.

Keane joined the firm from Keefe, Bruyette & Woods where he was senior vice president, sales trading and spent 11 years. Prior to KBW, he did stints at Credit Suisse and its predecessor Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Krasutsky was senior vice president, sales trading at KBW. Prior to his 11-year tenure at KBW, he was a sales trader with Tucker, Anthony & Co. Krasutsky began his career on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

McCorry, a 25 year veteran, was a senior vice president, sales trading at KBW. Before that, he was a managing director with Citigroup in its equity sales & trading division. He began his career as a financial consultant with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, Ga.

Mattaliano joins from Keefe, Bruyette & Woods where he served as the director of equity sales, Boston.  Prior to that, he was vice president, equity research analyst with Evergreen Investment Management Company and Vice President with Fleet Investment Advisors.

Six-year old Compass Point’s main sales trading desk is located in Washington D.C. and is run by Scott Dreyer, head trader and chief executive.

Prior to founding Compass Point, Dreyer was one of the first partners at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. where he built the firm’s trading operations from the ground up to a 50 person trading desk. Prior to that, he was with Johnston, Lemon & Co. where he both traded and managed the firm’s trading activities. He also was a floor trader at the American Stock Exchange.
