>>A plethora of ex-Nomura Securities traders have landed positions with other firms. Sean Harte, previously a sales trader covering international stocks, joins Bradesco. Instinet scoops up Sam Clapp, formerly head of electronic trading sales; Tom Terzulli, who traded consumer stocks; Kevin Brady, who was a managing director, liquid markets; Mark Govoni, a program sales trader; Joseph Mezrich, head of quantitative strategy; and sales trader Bill O’Brien. Wells Fargo Securities hires trader James Imperiale. Michael Christian joins Raymond James & Associates. Brean Capital hires sales trader Stephen Murphy in its Boston office. Brandi Gatlin joins Westor Capital Group in New York as a sales trader. Scott Bauer joins Cowen & Co. as head of program sales and trading. Kevin Kilgallen, who traded technology stocks at Nomura, joins Wells Fargo Securities. Richard Conti joins Oppenheimer & Co. Conti was formerly head of electronic sales trading at Nomura.
>>MKM Partners hires eight sales traders. The firm picked up Mehdi Sunderji and Kurt Peterson from Atlantic Equities after the British firm closed its U.S. offices. MKM grabbed Keith Arnott and Dick Bennett from Rochdale Securities after that Stamford, Conn., firm stopped trading. The firm also brought on Terry Duffy, who spent the previous eight years with Liquidnet and its Miletus unit; Paul Prentice from Collins Stewart; Tony Lombardo from hedge fund JMG Capital Management; and Mike Cohen from Princeton Securities. The eight hires bring the total number of sales traders at the Stamford-based institutional brokerage to 46, working out of eight offices.
>>James Alperin joined Northland Securities in New York as a sales trader. In the past, Alperin has worked at a series of small broker-dealers, including Rodman & Renshaw, Caris & Co., Kaufman Bros. and C.E. Unterberg, Towbin. Alperin ran the desk at Kaufman Bros.
>>Carlos Jimenez joins Macquarie Capital as a sales trader in New York. He comes from Knight Capital. Earlier in his career Jimenez spent more than seven years at Herzog Heine Geduld and its successor firm, Merrill Lynch, as well as five years at Susquehanna Capital Group.
>>Bart Barnett joined U.S. Capital Advisors in Houston as a managing director and senior trader in the firm’s institutional client group. Barnett was previously head of listed trading at Morgan Keegan, where he spent 10 years. Before that, he worked for Scott & Stringfellow.
>>Greg Voetsch joined Janney Capital Markets as head of equities. The 25-year veteran will be responsible for Janney’s equity sales, sales trading, trading and research groups. Voetsch was most recently an executive vice president in charge of global equities at Knight Capital Group. Voetsch spent 10 years at Knight. With Voetsch’s hire, Thomas Ferraro and Jeff Woodford, who served as co-heads of equities, will assume roles as heads of sales and sales trading, respectively.
>>Pascal Bandelier returned to Barclays Capital, after a year and a half at Morgan Stanley and a short stint as co-head of U.S. equity trading at Nomura Securities International. At Barclays, Bandelier is a director in the U.S. cash equity trading group, reporting to Eric Johnston, head of the group, according to a Barclays spokesperson.
>>Jason Griffith joined Sanford C. Bernstein as the new global head of trading. He was previously at Jefferies & Co., where he spent six years. There, he was global head of equities, responsible for overseeing cash and electronic trading, equity derivatives, convertibles and prime brokerage, as well as sales and research. Prior to Jefferies, Griffith was the global head of the hedge fund investors group and equity-linked solutions at Bank of America, and later at Societe Generale.
>>Tim Fierce joined Janney Montgomery Scott as a sales trader in the firm’s Chicago office. Fierce was previously head of institutional sales and trading at Rodman & Renshaw, and its predecessor firm, Hudson Securities.
>>Jerry Kallas joins Knight Capital as a Managing Director and will lead the institutional equities team in the Chicago office. Kallas is a veteran of the Chicago trading community. He comes from Vandham Securities where he led the sales effort for the midwest region. Previously, he worked in senior roles at Rodman & Renshaw, Terra Nova Financial and Engelman Securities. Kallas is Chairman of the LaSalle Street Committee for St. Jude and a member of STA Chicago. He reports to Joe Mazzella, Senior Managing Director, Head of Institutional Equities.
>>Alan Kostrinsky joined the electronic trading group at Citadel Securities. He previously worked in electronic trading at ConvergEx, with sales responsibility for the Vortex dark pool.
>>Ken Beaulieu joined Morgan Stanley in the Boston office of the firm’s private bank. Beaulieu previously worked as a sales trader at Williams Capital, which shut down its Boston office late last year.
>>Wolfe Trahan Securities, the broker-dealer affiliate of the research boutique, launched an agency trading desk in New York with five professionals. Three were previously with FBR Capital Markets: Mike Derby, Catherine Hare and David Ramirez. Two were previously with Macquarie Capital: Matt Lahey and Jon Patria.
>>Steve Roy joined Citadel Securities as a manager on the firm’s over-the-counter trading desk. Based in Chicago, Roy was previously a trader at Raymond James & Associates in its financial institutions group. Roy spent 8 years as a trader at E*Trade Capital Markets.
>>Weeden & Co. hires Michael Palazzi as head of derivative sales on its options trading desk. Palazzi was formerly Head of Derivative Sales at Pali & Co. He also spent 15 years heading sales and Nasdaq trading at CIBC.
>>Frank Baxter joined Dahlman Rose & Co. in New York as a sales trader. He was previously a sales trader at Knight Capital Group.
>>Chris Beyer joined the trading department at Cantor Fitzgerald in New York. He was previously head of equities trading at Auriga Securities USA.
>>Joe Wald joins GAIN Capital as executive vice president, head of institutional. Wald is responsible for leading GTX, GAIN’s institutional business. He was most recently head of Knight Direct, Knight Capital Group’s institutional electronic trade execution business. Prior to Knight Capital Group, he was co-founder and CEO of EdgeTrade, an agency brokerage and developer of algorithmic trading and direct-market-access software for equity markets. He reports directly to chief executive Glenn Stevens.
>>Matt DeSalvo joined broker-dealer CRT Capital Group as the Stamford, Conn., firm’s chief operating officer. DeSalvo has 25 years of experience on Wall Street, including 20 years at Morgan Stanley in equities sales and trading. Most recently, he held a senior position in equities at Credit Suisse. CRT offers sales and trading services across rates, mortgages, credit and equities.
