Citadel & NYSE Offer Unlisted OTC Data Globally

NYSE Technologies and market maker, Citadel Securities, are offering real-time Over-the-Counter stock data globally.

Buy and sell-siders can access OTC bid/ask quotes for 6500 international stocks and ADRs not listed on any exchange but traded regardless. Citadel’s Grey Sheet OTC quote feed is delivered by the bourse’s SuperFeed data tape.  Available now, the Grey Sheet feed provides actionable real-time quotes for approximately 6,500 OTC stocks from 34 countries not listed on any exchange but actively traded by investors around the world.

Grey sheet stocks, commonly known as “f shares” or ADRs, represent securities of any public companies that are typically listed on a foreign exchange, but not listed or publicly-quoted in the U.S. The Grey Sheet feed allows U.S. investors to invest in these companies, in U.S. currency, without having to set up an account with a foreign broker-dealer and use foreign currency.

Prior to this, grey sheet data was incomplete; institutions either couldn’t get quotable markets in these securities at all or could only get limited information, such as last sale. Citadel Securities, an NYSE Euronext market maker, is responsible for creating live actionable trade data, said Tom Watson, vice president, global market data, NYSE Technologies.

“Prior to the launch of this datafeed, reliable, actionable quote data was difficult to source,” Watson said. “Now, GreySheets data is widely available to the NYSE Euronext customer base.”

Combined with NYSE Technologies reach and scalability, this feed extends OTC data to the global trading community when compared to other alternatives that are particularly limited in data sourcing and high-speed, global distribution capabilities, said Jamil Nazarali, Citadel Securities, senior managing director, in a release.

“Collaborating with a leader in market data and global infrastructure like NYSE Technologies allows us to dramatically increase the distribution and performance of our Grey Sheet data feed,” Nazarali said. “By connecting to SuperFeed we can provide a core OTC offering to a much broader segment of investors with speed, reliability and confidence.”

Any orders executed by Citadel Securities are then reported to FINRA
