ON THE MOVE: Mark Ashton-Rigby Steps Down from BX; BNP Paribas Appoints Senior Executives

Mark Ashton-Rigby

Mark Ashton-Rigby will step down from his current role as Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive of Barclays Execution Services (BX). He will continue to work with Barclays in a part-time advisory capacity. Alistair Currie, currently Global Head of Consumer Banking & Payments, will take on the roles of Group COO and Chief Executive of BX, subject to regulatory approvals. Vim Maru will join as Global Head of Consumer Banking & Payments, taking over from Alistair and joining the Group Executive Committee, subject to regulatory approval. All three changes will be effective from February 1, 2023. 

Kunal Maini

BNP Paribas has made several senior executives to its Global Markets Americas division. Kunal Maini has been appointed Co-Head of Global Macro – Americas. Maini has 16 years of experience in the global macro space. He joins BNP Paribas from Morgan Stanley, where he was Global Head of Government Bond, Inflation and E-Trading. John Hanisch has been appointed Co-Head of Secondary Credit Americas and Global Head of Securitized Products Trading. Hanisch joins BNP Paribas following two years on the buy-side at Hayfin Capital Management. Charlie Shah has been appointed Head of IG & CDS Trading Americas. Shah has over 20 years of industry experience, most recently at RBC where he ran the US Investment Grade Trading Business. Michael Rietbrock has been appointed Head of Research within the bank’s Global Equities business. Rietbrock has over 30 years of experience in the equity research space. He performed as a top-ranked analyst, and subsequently as a research manager at Bank of America, Nomura and MoffettNathanson. Robert McDonald has been appointed Head of Strategic Equity Solutions and Equity-Linked Origination and Nadim Siddique has been appointed Head of Strategic Equity Derivatives Trading within the bank’s Global Equities business. McDonald has worked in the equity capital markets and equity corporate derivatives space since 2008. Previously, he performed senior leadership roles at Mizuho, Credit Suisse and Nomura. Siddique has 25 years of experience leading equity derivatives trading teams within both the sell- and buy-side institutions. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he performed senior leadership roles at CIBC World Markets Group, Citadel, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan. 

Martin Koopman

Broadridge Financial Solutions has appointed Martin Koopman as Chief Product Officer, effective January 1, 2023. He will lead the Product Management team working across all business units to collectively drive Broadridge’s delivery of world-class SaaS and other service offerings to leading financial services clients. Koopman will report directly to CEO Tim Gokey. Koopman joined Broadridge in 2014 as Head of Strategy for Broadridge’s Investor Communication Services business. In 2017, he was named President, Bank Broker-Dealer (BBD), where he helped steer that business through a period of double-digit growth and innovation. 

Fenergo, a compliance solutions provider, has hired former SunTrust compliance executive Tracy Moore as Director of Strategy in the Americas. Moore will oversee the development and execution of business strategy across Fenergo’s operations in North America, including those in the United States and Canada, and Latin American. Moore joins Fenergo with over 25 years of experience in investment banking, covering the areas of client onboarding, legal documentation and compliance in both capital markets and corporate lending.

Wave Financial has appointed Harumi Urata-Thompson as Chief Financial Officer, based in New York City. She will report to David Siemer, CEO. Urata-Thompson joins Wave with nearly 30 years as an experienced, CFA-certified financial officer and business strategist across both the traditional finance and cryptocurrency industries. Most recently, she served as CFO of Emrit, a distributed blockchain infrastructure provider. 

D.A. Davidson & Co.’s Fixed Income Capital Markets Group has hired Ray Moreland to serve as Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales, based in Boca Raton, Florida. Moreland brings roughly 22 years of fixed income sales experience and previously served as Senior Vice President of Fixed Income Sales at FHN Financial and Vice President of Fixed Income Sales at Bank of America Securities.
