ON THE MOVE: Easthope Joins Greenwich; Mehta to PEAK6

Greenwich Associates, a provider of data, analytics and insights to the financial services industry, hired David Easthope as a Senior Advisor on its Market Structure & Technology team. Easthope will lead the Market Structure & Technology team’s efforts in Capital Markets FinTech and Market Data & Analytics. Easthope joins Greenwich Associates from Celent, where he led the firm’s Capital Markets practice. David is a Chartered Financial Analyst and regularly advises financial institutions, technology firms and strategic investors on strategy, growth, digital, vendor selection, and investments.

Sam Mehta was named Chief Operating Officer of Chicago-based PEAK6 Capital Management. Mehta has deep experience in technology development and strategy and will report directly to CEO Tom Simpson. Mehta has served in Chief Operating Officer roles for Sun Trading, Wells Fargo Securities and IMC Financial Markets. He has also held positions at Protiviti, KPMG and Goldman Sachs, where he grew his experience in front, middle and back-end trading operations. Most recently, he served as Principal at ME3 Capital, a fintech and product development company he co-founded in 2016.  

Jay Clayton, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, confirmed that after serving for more than three and a half years, he will conclude his tenure at the end of this year. Chairman Clayton was sworn in on May 4, 2017, and will leave the SEC as one of its longest-serving Chairs. During his tenure, Chairman Clayton focused the agency’s resources on advancing the interests of Main Street investors through initiatives that promoted economic growth, investment opportunity, market integrity and investor protection. Under Chairman Clayton’s leadership, the Commission enhanced the ability of businesses of all sizes to raise capital in public and private markets, subject to strong and effective investor protections. 

TransFICC, the specialist provider of low-latency connectivity and workflow services for Fixed Income and Derivatives Markets, appointed Gary Vann as Head of Sales. Based in London, Gary is responsible for business development globally. He has worked in Fixed Income sales for over 30 years, most recently at Nasdaq Fixed Income where he was Head of EMEA Sales and Account Management. Previous roles included working at BGC Partners broking US Treasuries and $IRS, at BrokerTec in US and CAD Bond sales, and RMJ Securities as a US Treasury Broker.

BTIG announced that Hugo Clark joined the firm as a Managing Director and the Head of European Trading and Distribution, where he will be based in London. Hugo has over 20 years of industry experience. Prior to BTIG, he ran UBS’ European Cash Trading unit. Notably, in the last 18 months, BTIG has doubled the firm’s workforce across its offices in London, Edinburgh, Stockholm and Oslo.

Dr. Christian Schiebl, formerly Chief Operating Officer of SmartStream and CEO of the Corona reconciliations business, joined fintech firm Gresham Technologies plc as Group Business Development Director. Schiebl brings strong technical knowledge and extensive experience in the development, sales, implementation, and support of complex software solutions for the finance sector. Following the acquisition of Management Data by SmartStream, Schiebl transformed the flagship reconciliation solution Corona into the industry’s first packaged offering for cash and securities reconciliations.
