ON THE MOVE: D’jelal Leaving Barclays; TP ICAP Adds Everson and Wood

Nej D’jelal, the head of electronic equities and quant prime services product for Europe at Barclays, is leaving the UK investment bank after more than eight years, The TRADE reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. D’jelal will depart Barclays for a more senior role with another investment bank, according to the report. D’jelal joined Barclays in 2012 and has held multiple senior roles in the electronic equities trading business at Barclays, mainly overseeing products for electronic equities and most recently for quantitative prime services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Daniel Ryan has joined BTIG’s Outsource Trading division as a Managing Director. Mr. Ryan will be based in the firm’s Red Bank, New Jersey office, and will report to Chris Casanovas, Managing Director and Head of Outsource Trading, at BTIG. Prior to BTIG, Mr. Ryan was the Head Trader at Brookfield Asset Management. Previously, he was a Credit Trader at Elliott Management. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ryan was a Portfolio Manager at UBS Securities and a Vice President within High-Yield Trading and Special Situations at Morgan Stanley. 

TP ICAP, a leading provider of market infrastructure, appointed David Everson as Head of Matchbook Credit, EMEA, and Rosie Wood as Matchbook Sales and Liquidity Manager. TP ICAP’s Matchbook business is a post-trade risk management solution. Everson joins from Tradeweb where he was Head of Credit Sweep Europe; responsible for the day to day running of the European Sweep business and projects including Tradeweb’s all to all anonymous trading protocol, and a Portfolio Trading Tool for the buy-side. Also joining from Tradeweb, Wood  brings a wealth of experience in trading connectivity and electronic markets. 

Charles Li will step down as Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, effective December 31. Calvin Tai will assume the role of Interim Chief Executive as of January 1, 2021. Tai, aged 58 and a 22-year HKEX veteran,, is currently Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of HKEX and will continue in these roles concurrently with his appointment as Interim Chief Executive.  Li, who was HKEX CEO for 11 years, will remain as Senior Advisor to the Board for a six-month period. 

Fintech firm Capitolis appointed Lindsey Baptiste as Senior Vice President of Finance and Hen Lotan as Chief of Staff. Baptiste will oversee all finance activities, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, systems and billing, as well as support corporate governance. Lotan will manage Capitolis’ strategy, process and business performance, analyze strategic opportunities and measure business outcomes. Baptiste joins Capitolis following key roles at both startups and large financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley in equity capital markets and at advertising technology firm MediaMath. Lotan spent eight years with Boston Consulting Group, where he served as Principal and a lead member of the firm’s financial institutions practice.

BNY Mellon’s Issuer Services, which includes Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts’ businesses, announced that Carlos Lima has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer, effective today. Recently, Lima was President of Verifone Latin America and the Caribbean, where he led major initiatives to optimize business performance, grow revenue, build scale, and manage risk.
