ON THE MOVE: BNP Paribas AM Names New US CEO; Khan Joins Nasdaq’s Quandl

BNP Paribas Asset Management appointed Johanna Lasker and Amanda Raynor CEO and Deputy CEO, respectively of BNPP AM USA effective January 1. Lasker will be responsible for BNPP AM’s strategy, leadership, governance and regulatory matters, alongside her current responsibilities as the head of the Official Institutions Group. Lasker will take on the role of Deputy CEO in addition to her current role as COO of BNPP AM USA.  

Nasdaq’s Quandl, an alternative data provider, appointed Hamza Khan as Head of European Data. Khan was formerly the CEO and founder of Suburbia, a technology company that specialized in alternative data solutions. Based in Amsterdam with connections across the continent on the buy and sell side, Khan will lead the organization’s data strategy in Europe and help expand its presence in the European market. Khan began his career as a quantitative analyst and was the head of commodities strategy at ING prior to founding Suburbia. 

Liquidnet, an institutional investment network, appointed Steven Nichols as its Head of NLP (Natural Language Processing) and Unstructured Data, and added Dr. Nicholas Burtch, Dr. Anthony Schramm and Yusong Liu as data scientists.  

Nichols joined Liquidnet through Liquidnet’s 2019 acquisition of NLP technology company Prattle, where he was a Director of Data Science. He has been instrumental in the development of Liquidnet’s NLP capabilities and their integration into the Liquidnet Investment. Nichols will report to Liquidnet’s Chief Data Scientist, Tom Doris. Dr. Burtch is a former recipient of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Fellowship and NSF Graduate Fellowship; his research has been published in multiple journals. Dr. Schramm was most recently a Graduate Research Fellow at Yale University and a Fellow at The Data Incubator in New York City. Liu joins Liquidnet from the University of Washington (Seattle), where he earned his master’s degree and oversaw projects on sentiment analysis using neural methods. 

IHS Markit hired Citadel Securities vet Brian Oliver as managing director of global sales and account management, The TRADE reported. Oliver was formerly head of fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) sales and relationship management for Europe and Asia at Citadel Securities, where he worked from 2015 until his departure in December 2019. He played a key role in developing Citadel Securities’ European FICC business, having built out the firm’s swaps and treasuries franchise across the region during his tenure. 

GLMX, a fintech firm that works in repurchase agreements (repo) and securities lending markets, appointed Lauren Carroll as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. Carroll will be based in GLMX’s New York office and will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and direction for the global business. Carroll has more than a decade’s worth of experience in the financial markets. She joins GLMX from MarketAxess, where she was General Counsel for LiquidityEdge, the MarketAxess Rates business, and Assistant General Counsel for the firm. Before MarketAxess, Carroll held various senior and general counsel positions at ICAP, MyTreasury, and R3.

Siebert Financial Corp. hired Anthony Palmeri and Jerry Losurdo to lead Siebert’s Securities Finance Group within its broker-dealer subsidiary, Muriel Siebert & Co., Inc. Palmeri joins Siebert from JP Morgan Chase & Co. where he has an Executive Director, and Losurdo joins Siebert from TD Prime Services, LLC where, as a Managing Director, he led its Securities Lending and Equity and Finance division. The two have a combined 75 years of experience and will also bring on Jen Cahalan and Michael Scotti as part of their team.


JPMorgan Chase & Co. named Reggie Chambers Head of Investor Relations, effective January 1. Jason Scott, who has led the Investor Relations team since 2016, will be taking on a new role at the Firm as head of Global Technology Finance. Chambers is currently the Chief Administrative Officer for Chase Consumer Banking where he leads all branch innovation and operations for the Consumer Bank, which includes overseeing branch real estate, ATMs, and branch innovation labs. In his new role, Chambers will report to JPMorgan Chase’s Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Piepszak and lead a team of employees who are responsible for maintaining relationships with investors and analysts, and assisting them in understanding the Firm’s business model, long-term strategy, governance and financial performance.
