Citi Raises Money for Food Bank of NYC

In an effort that could serve as a model for future initiatives, our North America Rates business raised $610,000 in the last month for Food Bank for New York City to assist with the COVID-19 response efforts. The funds will help provide meals to families throughout New York City and to health-care workers and first responders.

Perhaps no city is more impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic than New York City. With more COVID-19 cases than any other country, NYC continues to manage the impacts of the outbreak. “Now, more than ever we need to unify and help those in need during this crisis. This unprecedented situation has added strain on the City’s food pantries and it’s important that we support this critical lifeline,” says Deirdre Dunn, Global Co-Head of Rates. “We applaud front line workers and essential workers all over the world, and we will continue to find ways to leverage our global footprint and give our support.”

The money was raised during a four-week campaign in which Citi’s North American Rates business donated $1 for every $1 million traded electronically in Interest Rate products in the U.S. With so many health care workers, first responders and families still struggling to respond to the pandemic, the campaign has been extended for another eight weeks.

Food Bank for New York City is a non-profit social services organization and the major hunger-relief organization working against hunger in the five boroughs. Its aim is to organize food, information and support for needy citizens of New York City.
