Morgan Stanleyon Monday announced the promotion of Peter Santoro to global head of equity trading.Santoro, 44, had been head of equity trading for the Americas since 2010. Sam Kellie-Smith, who was Santoros boss as global head of equities, wasassigned this month to help turn around the banks bond-trading business, where returns fell short of the firms targets.
Former Serengeti Asset Management partner Vivian Lau has added two new hires to One Tusk Investment Partners ahead of the launch of its event driven fund.Thomas Fuchs joined the firm as director of operations in November from Boaz Weinsteins Saba Capital Management, where he had held the same role since 2009.Daniel Mandelbaum, who was appointed CFO of One Tusk in November after a 13-year stint as CFO at Royal Capital Management and a brief spell as interim CFO at Mark Nordlichts $1.3bn AuM Platinum Partners. One Tusk’smulti-strategy portfolio will be weighted to equities initially with the ability to add debt allocations as opportunities present themselves.

Mirabaud Securities appointed a new head of global electronic trading. Jason Rand joined the brokerage and corporate finance arm of Mirabaud from Convergex where he served as head of global trading, In this newly created role, Rand is overseeing the development and expansion of electronic trading across the EMEA, Asia, and American regions. Rand will service and execute on behalf of US and European clients, trading across more than 70 markets into EMEA and the Asia Pacific. He is based in London.
John O’Hara, a former director at Credit Suisse, has joined Societe Generale as a director in its FX prime brokerage (PB) sales team. Based in New York, he will report to Alain Courbebaisse, head of prime clearing services. In this new role, O’Hara will develop relationships and promote Societe Generale’s FXPB offering to hedge funds, proprietary trading groups and institutional investors.
Goldman Sachs announced Friday that it has appointed Lucia Arienti to head up the EMEA prime brokerage consulting team. Arientihas been with the company for 13 years and previously worked in the prime brokerage sales team.She replaces William Douglas, who left to help start up a new European credit-focused hedge fund, Caius Capital.
Johannah Ladd will join Quantlab Financial as the head of its London office, according to two people familiar with the situation. The firmis one of 27 represented by the European Principal Traders Association, where Ladd was secretary general from March 2014 until December 2015. EPTA was founded in 2011 to represent the interests of low-profile proprietary trading firms and is part of the Futures Industry Association.Ladd was heavily involved in providing technical input on new European regulation, in particular the revision of the EU trading rulebook, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, which is set come into force in 2018.Before Epta, Ladd was general counsel at Dutch HFT firm Flow Traders. She is a graduate ofHarvard Law School and worked as a journalist for Dow Jones Newswires early in her career.
Bank of America Corp. has named Samuel Losada and James Fleming as co-heads of equity capital markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.Losada, 36, and Fleming, 37, will remain in London and report to global equity capital markets heads Craig Coben and Mary Ann Deignan.

Deutsche Bank has boosted its prime finance team with the addition of former Merrill Lynch pro Alison Dayton. Shereports to Ryan Burnett, head of EMEA prime finance distribution. Daytonspent over 13 years at Merrill Lynch within the global markets financing and futures sales division, and was previously head of FX options middle office at Paribas Bank. Shehas also had FX trading and settlement roles at Dresdner and Citibank and Dai-Ichi Kangyo in Australia.
Goldman Sachs promoted Denise Wyllie as head of the Federation for Asia-Pacific, the part of brokers structure that deals with non-revenue generating parts of the business such as operations and compliance. Wyllie was the global co-chief operating officer for the banks operations division, covering Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Asia. She is well known in industry circles, having been the nominated board director for the London Stock Exchange-owned clearing house, LCH.Clearnet.
Conatus Capital has hired a pair. In a reshuffling, the firm saw president Kevin Burke leave and the subsequent hiring of John Cunningham as CFO from Two Sigma and Julie Trent as COO from Tiger Management. Burke, who joined when the firm was founded in 2007, has recently left with sources close to the firm confirming that his fundraising duties have been passed on to Trent.
Shane Dillon,asenior member of Societe Generales electronic trading staff who was promoted last year to co-lead its quant business, hasjoined the highly regarded electronic team at rival Morgan Stanley.Dillon was one of two figures elevated to take responsibilities for the French banks electronic trading operations when Mark Goodman, head of quantitative electronic services, left in January 2015. Dillon became head of QES, which offers algorithmic, direct market access and execution consultancy services to clients, and deputy head of electronic trading services.He reports to Rupert Fennelly, co-head of European Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading.
