Instinet's new headquarters is in Times Square, not far from Nasdaq's Marketsite building in midtown Manhattan.
Located in the Reuters Building at 3 Times Square, the new headquarters houses a multi-tiered 22,000 square-foot trading floor that includes some 200 trading desks. Each desk has six flat-screen monitors.
The firm's headquarters was previously located on Third Avenue in uptown Manhattan.
"The technological needs were assessed for about a year prior to construction," an Instinet spokeswoman said.
"With the many portals, the trading floor has definitely been built with the capacity for growth," she added.
Instinet Square
Instinet's new digs will contain several of the business's units, including Instinet Research, Instinet Fixed Income, the Crossing Network and Lynch, Jones & Ryan.
About 700 employees will work out of Times Square. The company has about 2,200 employees worldwide.
