STANY Prepares for Its 87th Annual Conference

The Security Traders Association of New York (STANY) will be hosting its 87th Annual Conference and Party on Monday, March 27 at the New York Stock Exchange.

“We anticipate 500 guests will attend the conference and party on the floor of the exchange immediately afterwards. The venue is so special, and we are tremendously thankful to the NYSE for hosting this event with us,” said Kimberly Unger, CEO and Executive Director of STANY.

“We are truly appreciative of all our partners and sponsors who have supported the event and STANY,” she added.

STANY, a member and the largest affiliate of The Security Traders Association (STA), has represented professionals in the trading and financial services community in the Greater New York City area for more than 85 years.

The capital market structure and trading event will open with STANY’s Women in Finance Breakfast featuring conversations with Lynn Martin, President of the NYSE and Helima Croft, Managing Director and Global Head of Commodity Strategy, RBC Capital Market.

“We are excited about our Women in Finance Conversations. The support that we have for our Women in Finance initiatives and the powerful and accomplished women that we can attract is a testament to the hard work of our WIF group,” Unger said.

More than 50 industry experts will delve into topics relevant to trading Equities, Options, ETFs, Fixed Income Products, and Cryptocurrencies.

“As always, we have tried to present a mix of the most relevant market structure and trading topics with panels that address trends in trading diverse asset classes,” Unger said.

She added that given the timeliness and importance of the SEC’s recently filed market structure proposals that will touch on all aspects of trading, many of the conversations will look at the industry’s response to these sweeping proposals and their anticipated impact if adopted.

“For our annual conference, we always endeavor to include at least one future focused discussion. This year we are looking at Artificial Intelligence and the ramifications of Open AI, Chat GPT and responsible AI for trading,” she said.

This year, STANY has also planned separate panels covering multi asset classes – a panel on ETFs, one on Options, another on Fixed Income Trading, a Crypto panel and a panel on other tradeable assets such as private equity and real estate products.

“While we have peppered these topics into our conferences in the past, I cannot recall a time when all of them were featured with their own special focus,” Unger noted.

This year, keynote conversations include SEC Commissioner Hester M. Pierce and Citadel Securities’, Gregg Berman, Managing Director Market Analytics & Regulatory Structure and Virtu Financial CEO, Doug Cifu and Jordi Visser, President & Chief Investment Officer of Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers.

“I anticipate that the panels addressing equity market structure and Clearing Up Crypto will be popular considering their timeliness and impact,” Unger said.

“Our two keynote conversations are also highly anticipated due to the caliber and energy of the professionals involved,” she added.

Unger said that STANY is also pleased to be presenting its 10th Annual Awards to Joe Mecane, Citadel Securities for Lifetime Achievement and Dedication to STANY and to Bryan Harkins, Trumid, for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry.

Honors are given to those who, in the opinion of the Board, have demonstrated exceptional service to the industry and/or to STANY and whose contributions have advanced the values and principles upon which STANY was founded.

“I can think of no two finer people to honor this year than Joe and Bryan,” Unger said.

CNBC’s Bob Pisani will again participate in the honors ceremony, which will also include the presentation of STANY’s Best of Award, she added.
