ON THE MOVE: T. Rowe Price CEO Retires; Credit Suisse hires David Wildermuth From Goldman Sachs

Bill Stromberg, T. Rowe Price’s CEO and chair of the board of directors since 2016, will retire at year-end 2021, when he’ll become non-executive chair. Stromberg caps a 35-year career at the firm in which he rose from analyst to portfolio manager to executive. Rob Sharps, currently Group CIO and a member of the firm’s management committee, will become the new CEO. He started at the firm as an analyst in 1997. In addition, Eric Veiel, co-Head of Global Equity and Head of U.S. equity, will become Head of Global Equity. Josh Nelson, Associate Head of U.S. Equity, will succeed Veiel as Head of U.S. Equity.

Credit Suisse Group has appointed David Wildermuth as Chief Risk Officer and a member of the Executive Board as of February 1, 2022 at the latest. Wildermuth, a 34-year banking veteran, joins Credit Suisse from Goldman Sachs. He brings extensive experience in risk management and in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry. Wildermuth will be based in Zurich and will report directly to Group CEO Thomas Gottstein. Joachim Oechslin will continue to serve as ad interim Chief Risk Officer until Wildermuth joins. After the handover, Oechslin will reassume – as agreed already in early April – a senior role as Strategic Advisor to the Group CEO. 

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Rob Hegarty as Senior Policy Advisor in the Trading & Markets Division. Hegarty has extensive experience in trading, market structure and technology, including stints as Global Head of Equities at Thomson Reuters and Head of Market Structure at DTCC. Hegarty is currently an Advisor for FinTech Sandbox and Managing Partner at Hegarty Group.

Stephen Berte has joined Tourmaline Partners as Managing Director. Berte will establish Tourmaline’s Boston, MA office, joining Tourmaline with nearly two decades of experience in trading across multiple asset classes and regions. Berte’s fifteen years of buy-side trading experience encompasses equity, fixed income, derivatives, foreign exchange and money markets in regions including North America, Latin America, Europe and APAC. Most recently, Berte led business development and relationship management at global institutional investment network Liquidnet.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has hired Okeatta Brown as Head of Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) for the Americas. Brown will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and report to Amy Ward, Chief Human Resources Officer for the Americas. Brown joins MUFG from Wells Fargo, where she held leadership roles for the past two decades. 

Neocova has expanded its leadership team with appointments of Aldo Pietropaolo as Chief Solutions Officer and Dino Pietropaolo as Chief Technology Officer. In addition, Barbara Piette has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to joining Neocova, Pietropaolo brothers leveraged more than two decades’ worth of combined experience in cybersecurity. Most recently, Aldo and Dino worked for ALTR, serving as Solutions Engineering Director and Senior Director of Solutions Engineering, respectively. Piette is Managing Principal at Knightsbridge Advisers, a highly specialized venture capital fund of funds, where she has co-led the firm, including investments in premier venture capital funds, finance and operations, marketing, and compliance.

Mary Fuzat has joined Onit as Vice President of Product Management. With more than two decades of software leadership experience, her focus has been on customer-impacting leadership roles that include product management and integration, cross-functional team leadership and business process optimization. Before joining Onit, she held critical product roles for Insite360 (formerly FuelQuest, LLC) and Trelligence.

GFT has hired Carlton Hopper as UK Managing Director. Hopper joins from IBM Global Business Services, where he was the Partner for Banking, running strategic programmes encompassing IT strategy, digital delivery and IT resilience, to name a few.

Damian Sutcliffe, former EMEA CIO for Goldman Sachs has joined illumr’s advisory board. Sutcliffe retired from a 20-plus year technology career at Goldman Sachs Group, including the last five years as Chief Information Officer for EMEA.
