ON THE MOVE: STT Adds Keith Cacciola; Thomas Bonville to Clear Street

Keith Cacciola

Sterling Trading Tech (STT) has appointed industry veteran Keith Cacciola as Chief Customer Officer. Cacciola will lead Sterling’s account management team to work closely with clients who count on STT for their trading technology solutions and also to inform them about new product releases. Prior to joining STT, Cacciola was VP of Account Management at Eventus, where he was responsible for building out and leading the firm’s Global Account Management team. Before Eventus, Cacciola was Chief Customer Officer at Vela, where he oversaw a team of account executives responsible for protecting and growing Vela’s global client base.

Thomas Bonville

Clear Street has added derivatives to its menu of prime brokerage offerings, and has hired Thomas Bonville to spearhead the effort. Bonville reports to the Global Head of Distribution, Patrick Travers in his new role as Managing Director, Head of Derivative Sales. Prior to joining Clear Street, Bonville served as the Head of Sales, Managing Director at Macro Risk Advisors for more than a year and spent eight years running equity derivatives sales at Wells Fargo and 15 years in senior equity derivative sales roles at Nomura, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs. 

Karen Karniol-Tambour

Bridgewater Associates has named Karen Karniol-Tambour as Co-Chief Investment Officer, responsible for managing the company’s investment process. She also co-leads the firm’s Sustainable Investing efforts, overseeing the design of new investment solutions with both financial and sustainability objectives. Karniol-Tambour has been with the firm for the past 16 years, starting in 2006 as an Investment Associate.

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System has appointed Geraldine Jimenez as senior investment director of public markets and Mike DiRe as senior investment director of private markets. Both Jimenez and DiRe have been promoted within CalSTRS to these new positions. Jimenez, the former director of investment strategy and risk, now serves as the senior leader over the public markets: Global Equity, Fixed Income and Risk Mitigating Strategies. DiRe, who was director of Real Estate, is the senior leader over the private markets: Real Estate, Private Equity and Inflation Sensitive. Jimenez and DiRe report to Deputy Chief Investment Officer Scott Chan.

Naïm Abou-Jaoudé has been named CEO of New York Life Investment Management, effective May 1. Abou-Jaoudé has a distinguished 30-year career in investment management. He is currently CEO of Candriam, a global multi-specialist asset manager, and one of New York Life’s largest investment subsidiaries. Abou-Jaoudé is also the Chair of New York Life Investment Management International, a division of NYLIM. Abou-Jaoudé will report into Alain Karaoglan, Head of the Strategic Businesses at New York Life. 

FIA Tech has hired Michael Torretta in the newly created role of Head of Strategic Alliances. Torretta is based in New York and reports to CEO Nick Solinger. Torretta spent over 20 years at JP Morgan, most recently as Executive Director, Product Development in the global clearing and execution business.  He has played a key role in in a number of cross-industry initiatives that have improved the current market structure by improving operations and reducing systemic risk, including Futures Industry Association and International Swaps and Derivatives Association working groups. He also represented JP Morgan on the Board of Directors for FIA Tech and as the co-chair of the FIA Tech Product Advisory Committee.  

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has appointed Michael Conrath as Chief Retirement Strategist. He has been with J.P. Morgan Asset Management for more than 11 years, most recently as Head of Education Savings.  Prior to joining the firm, he was wealth planning director at AllianceBernstein, where he spent more than a decade developing college savings, wealth transfer and retirement planning initiatives.  

BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed Geoff Dailey as Deputy Head of US Equities, effective February 2023.  He will succeed Pamela Woo as Head of US Equities following her planned retirement at the end of June 2023.  Woo retires after a long and successful career spanning 30 years in the industry, including almost 20 years at BNPP AM. With more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services and asset management industry, Dailey has worked alongside Woo as a Senior Portfolio Manager and integral member of the team since 2014.  Based in Boston, he is currently the lead portfolio manager on the US Mid Cap strategy and co-portfolio manager on the US Small Cap strategy; he also manages the team’s investments in the financials and real estate sectors. 

Adam Wood has been appointed Turquoise Global CEO and Head of Equities Trading Commercial Proposition reporting to Julia Hoggett. He was previously Head of Turquoise Europe and Securities Trading Specialist Sales. Prior to joining Turquoise in January 2019, Wood was Director of Prime Brokerage Sales at BCS Global Markets where he was responsible for synthetic prime brokerage and supported financing and trading access to emerging markets.
