ON THE MOVE: Jonathan Yam Moves From IEX to Coinbase; Tradeweb Hires Dan Cleaves

Jonathan Yam has joined Coinbase as Director of Engineering, Exchange, effective July 19. He joins from the U.S. Equities Investors Exchange (IEX) Group where he was Head of Technology Development, overseeing their technology platform and products development. In his electronic trading career, Yam has worked on overseeing every type of product possible – from dark pools to smart order routers and to market data feeds – and has delivered a track record for cutting-edge electronic trading tools and applications.

Tradeweb Markets has appointed Dan Cleaves as a Managing Director in its Dealerweb wholesale unit. Based in New York, Cleaves will lead the strategy and development of the Dealerweb Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) recently acquired from Nasdaq. He will report to Chris Amen, Managing Director and Head of On-the-Run Treasury Trading at Dealerweb. Prior to joining Dealerweb, Cleaves was CEO of BrokerTec Americas with oversight of all global fixed income products. With ICAP and the NEX Group, he also served as Global Head of Product for EBS and BrokerTec and well as Head of U.S. Sales for BrokerTec.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Corey Klemmer as Corporation Finance Counsel, Adam Large as Trading and Markets Counsel, Mika Morse as Climate Counsel, Sirimal Mukerjee as Investment Management Counsel, and Sai Rao as Trading and Markets Counsel to Chair Gary Gensler’s policy staff, led by the Policy Director Heather Slavkin Corzo. Most recently, Klemmer served as Director of Engagement for Domini Impact Investments. Previously, Large held positions in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis, the Division of Examinations, and as Counsel to Commissioner Caroline A. Crenshaw. Morse joins from Sidley Austin in Washington, D.C where she was an international trade associate. Previously, Mukerjee served as a Branch Chief in the Investment Adviser Regulation Office in the Division of Investment Management’s Rulemaking Office at the SEC. Prior to assuming current role, Rao worked in the Office of Financial Intermediaries as a financial economist in the SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis.

Broadway Technology has appointed Bruce Boytim as Chief Operating Officer. Boytim brings extensive business development, strategy and operations experience to his role at Broadway, with expertise in establishing and growing new businesses and commercial products and expanding into new geographies across various financial and regulatory environments. His experience spans all areas of business operations including revenue growth, finance, technology, organizational structure and compliance. 

Liquidnet has hired Anthony Victor as Senior Execution Consultant in the Americas. Victor joins Liquidnet’s established Execution Consulting team, where he will leverage the firm’s suite of trading analytics, quantitative models, and innovative algorithms to deliver tailored client solutions. Based in New York, he reports directly to Head of Execution and Quantitative Services, Americas, Mike Capelli. He has more than 20 years of experience in institutional equity trading and joins Liquidnet from Royal Bank of Canada where, as managing director of electronic sales trading, he oversaw electronic client coverage, client profitability, and algorithm development.

R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO) has promoted Terry Gilhooly to the role of Global Chief Operating Officer from COO, North America, and Heather Rucci to the new position of Chief Human Resources Officer, from Managing Director, Human Resources. Gilhooly and Rucci have been co-heads of the firm’s Coronavirus Response Task Force, working in tandem since early 2020 to facilitate the successful mobilization of all aspects of the firm’s business and work-from-home capabilities. With three decades of futures industry experience, including the launch of his career at RJO, Gilhooly assumes the Global COO role after his promotion in May 2019 to COO, North America, overseeing the region’s Operations groups, along with RJO’s Client Service, Market Insights and Facilities teams. A 22-year human resources (HR) veteran, Rucci joined RJO in April 2019 after serving since 2016 as Senior Managing Director, Human Resources Business Partner at Nuveen.

Branden Jones has joined BlackRock Aladdin as Chief Marketing Officer. Jones brings over two decades of marketing and business management experience at established, emerging and start-up tech and financial services companies. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Nasdaq.

Versor Investments has promoted Leah Pozsgay to Partner within the firm. Pozsgay is the Head of Trade Execution and Counterparty Management. Prior to joining Versor Investments in 2017 she was a Managing Director at HazelTree.

Jim Greco has joined GTS as Managing Director. Previously he was a Consultant with Liberty Street Advisors and former CEO and a co-founder of Direct Match.

ACA Group has appointed Aimee Egan to lead all go-to-market functions in a newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer. Egan joins ACA with over 20 years of experience in B2B commercial leadership and general management, most recently at Thomson Reuters.
