Traders On the Move

Tom DeFazio was named sales manager at CR Brokerage, the broker-dealer subsidiary of Charles River Development. Defazio, a 24-year veteran, is responsible for selling the firm’s buyside block crossing product, CReX. His territory is the Midwest and Southeast. DeFazio spent the last four years at Aqua Securities selling its U.S. equity crossing system, as well as its non-U.S. equity direct market access services. He reports to Stephen Schardin, firm president.

 


 

Hans Heidle joins Pipeline Trading in New York as a director in the company’s execution management consulting group. Heidle, a six-year veteran, works for Pipeline’s Alpha Science research team. The group is responsible for its trade-cost analysis program, which looks to help clients increase their alpha capture and improve execution quality. He previously worked at ITG for five years. He reports to Henri Waelbroeck, director of research.

 


 

John McGough joins JonesTrading as a managing director. McGough, a 15-year veteran, will lead the brokerage’s expansion of its global commission management service. He was previously at BTIG for three years, where he served as director of commission management services.  He reports to chairman and chief executive Packy Jones, as well as to the chief operating officer Steve Chmielewski and chief financial officer Alan Hill.

 


 

Jaime Jofre joins Pragma Securities as chief technology officer. Jofre, an 18-year veteran, is responsible for leading Pragma’s technology teams across application development, quality assurance, infrastructure and application support. Prior to this, he was head of product development technology at Liquidnet, where he was responsible for the firm’s product and technology development functions. He reports to chief executive David Mechner.

 


 

Renaissance Capital has added six senior traders to its global cash equities team. Scott Duxbury, a 20-year veteran, joins as head of ADR and Canadian trading in New York. Duxbury is responsible for trading emerging market equity products and ADRs. He reports to Yonatan Godzanker. Duxbury spent his entire career at Merrill Lynch and was most recently director of equity trading there.
In London, 11-year veteran Payam Akhavan-Malayeri joins as the new global head of cash equities trading. Malayeri, a former Citigroup exec, is responsible for managing the cash equities trading team globally and its risk, as well as the cross-selling of Renaissance’s products. The firm also hired Stuart McSporran as new head of resources trading, Cameron MacKlin, John Seheri and Grant Nadar as Johannesburg-based traders. They come from Consilium Capital, Noah Financial Innovation and Investec Bank, respectively.
