Another one bites the dust.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has seen yet another top executive leave the agency. Chief of staff Didem Nisanci has resigned. Her departure follows an exodus that began four weeks ago when Chairman Mary Schapiro announced she was leaving the Commission.
After Schapiro announced her departure in November, others left the agency soon after. General counsel Mark Cahn, finance director Meredith Cross and the director of the Division of Trading and Markets, Robert Cook, announced their respective resignations in the last three weeks.
No replacement has been name for Nisanci.
Schapiro named Nisanci as Chief of Staff in March 2009. In that position, Ms. Nisanci has been a senior advisor to the Chairman on policy, management, and regulatory issues.
Before coming to the SEC, Nisanci served as Staff Director for the U.S. Senate Banking Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment.
