Thomas Richardson will be joining NYFIX as global head of transaction services.Richardson, previously an executive at the Boston Stock Exchange and president of its Boston Equities Exchange, will fill a new senior position once Nasdaq completes its acquisition of the BSE. Richardson will oversee management of the company’s electronic execution products and services. That includes NYFIX’s Millennium ATS dark pool, the soon-to-be-launched Euro Millennium dark pool and the company’s algorithmic trading and other agency brokerage services. Additionally, he will be involved in strategic development activities for NYFIX.

Richardson was involved in the BSE’s corporate strategy and its recent sale to Nasdaq. Prior to joining the BSE, he was a 13-year veteran of Citi’s Corporate Investment Bank, most recently acting as managing director of U.S. equities. While at Citi, Richardson headed strategic development, analyzed and provided guidance on market structure developments, designed the firm’s equity trading platform, and advised on a number of strategic acquisitions and business development deals.


Marybeth Shay joined BIDS Trading, an alternative trading system, as a senior managing director in charge of sales and marketing. In her position, Shay will focus on connecting additional order management and execution management systems to the BIDS trading platform, as well as developing further buyside connectivity. Shay will also manage overall direction and day-to-day operation of the sales and marketing team.

Prior to joining BIDS, Shay served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Boston Equities Exchange. Shay was employed by the Boston Stock Exchange for 13 years, overseeing business and product development.


Noreddine Sebti, global head of equity trading at Deutsche Bank, is moving from New York to Hong Kong. There he will assume regional responsibility for the equities business in Asia. Sebti will keep his current title and continue to report to Yassine Bouhara, Deutsche Bank’s global head of equities. “Locating a global business head in Asia clearly demonstrates the changing polarity of global equity markets and the growing importance of the region,” Bouhara said in a statement. Sebti joined Deutsche Bank in 1998 and has held several senior roles in London and New York. He is a former derivatives trader.


Christian Roch was promoted by BNP Paribas to head of strategy and corporate development for equities and derivatives in the Americas. He has been with BNP Paribas for more than 15 years, joining the New York office in 2004 as head of corporate development for the Americas. He will report to Todd Steinberg, head of equities and derivatives for the Americas. Roch joined Paribas in 1992 in the asset management division based in Paris.


James Malandro retired earlier this month after 41 years as a sales trader, the last 18 at Raymond James in Tampa, Fla. Malandro, who started at Shearson Hamill in 1967 and worked at Drexel Burnham, was also a founding partner at Rochdale Securities. He covered accounts in the Northeast. Clients in Philadelphia best remember Malandro for the time he took a group of them to the Saloon restaurant during the first Gulf War. There, he spotted Patti LaBelle and convinced her to stand and sing “God Bless America” in honor of the American troops. Malandro intends to spend his time working on hot rods and golfing.


Enrico Cacciatore joined ING Investment Management as a program trader. He was previously the head trader at brokerage house TradeTrek Securities. At ING, he reports to Nanette Buziak, head of trading.


Vinnie Croutier joined B. Riley & Co. in its New York office as a sales trader covering East Coast accounts. For the last eight years, Croutier was amanaging director, senior sales trader at First AlbanyCapital in New York. Previously,he was a trader at Furman Selz and Credit Lyonnais.


Brian Pears has joined agency brokerage JonesTrading as a senior vice president in sales. Pears, a longtime buysider who joined systems vendor and broker NYFIX two years ago, is expected to spearhead new sales projects at the Westlake Village, Calif.-based firm, where he has relocated. Pears, a 17-year trading veteran, previously sold NYFIX’s electronic trading products and services, specifically its dark pool, Millennium. During head trading stints at Wells Capital Management and Victory Capital, Pears might be best known by Traders Magazine readers for his long-running online column, “Pears Trading.”


Sean Gambino joined Legend Merchant Group, a boutique investment bank known for its special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), bio-med, security and M&A practices, as a managing director and head of trading. Gambino joins Legend from BGC Partners, a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald. There he was in charge of all equity trading and developed proprietary trading programs and a daily research product.


Jamie Barker joined Conifer Securities to run its new trading desk. He is based in New York. Barker previously ran sales at ThinkEquity Partners.


Brad Bailey joined Knight Capital Group as a director in the business/corporate development area, where he will be working on strategic initiatives for the firm. Bailey was previously an analyst at Aite Group.


Institutional broker-dealer Abel/Noser Corp. elected William P. Conlin as president and chief operating officer. Since joining the firm as a salesman in 1986, Conlin has been involved with managing sales, client services and trading. He will run the firm. Co-founder Stanley Abel will continue his roles as chairman of the board, chief executive officer and corporate secretary.


MKM Partners of Greenwich, Conn., made three new hires to expand into Boston and Austin, Texas. David Hinkle, with Tejas Securities in Austin for the last three years, joins MKM to manage its new Austin office. A veteran of more than 10 years, Hinkle has also worked at Capital Institutional Services.


Jim Krayer and Scott Mutryn both joined the firm’s new Boston office as co-heads. The 10-year-plus veteran Krayer was most recently a sales trader at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey-after stints at Thomas Weisel Partners and CMJ Partners. Mutryn, a seven-year veteran, spent his last five years as a sales trader at KeyBanc Capital Markets.


Robert Mezey joined wholesaler Seton Securities Group in Union Beach, N.J. as a vice president and institutional sales trader. Mezey, a 25-year veteran, left Maxim Group to join Seton Securities. The firm makes markets in about 2,500 stocks-small caps, distressed, pink sheets and the bulletin board.


Rafi Reguer joined Direct Edge ECN as head of corporate communications and marketing. He reports to Bill O’Brien, CEO. Reguer joined Direct Edge from Track Data Corp., where he headed marketing and corporate communications for eight years.Prior to joining Track Data, Reguer was the first vice president of electronic marketing for TD Waterhouse (now TD Ameritrade).
