ON THE MOVE: Capitolis Adds James Reilly; State Street Promotes Aman Thind; Ben Sobel to Trumid

Capitolis appointed James Reilly as Head of Equity and Total Return Swaps (TRS) Funding Solutions. Reilly will lead the development and execution of a suite of equity financing products that will enable financial institutions to finance and structure new portfolios of positions. These products will allow financial institutions to address their balance sheet needs and risk exposures. Prior to joining Capitolis, Reilly was a Senior Managing Director of State Street Global Markets and the CEO of Currenex, a provider of FX technology owned by State Street. He also previously served as Global Head of Macro Sales and Trading at Cantor Fitzgerald and Head of FX and Derivatives Prime Brokerage at Morgan Stanley. 

State Street Corp. named Aman Thind as executive vice president and global chief architect. Thind will report to Brian Franz, global chief information officer, and be responsible for designing the strategy and driving implementation of State Street’s technology transformation and interoperable infrastructure. Thind was previously chief technology officer of State Street’s GlobalLink platform and prior to that role was co-founder and CTO of BestX, a fintech startup acquired by State Street in 2018. He has also worked in Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, Fidelity and Adobe in various leadership roles.

Trumid, a financial technology company and fixed income electronic trading platform, hired Ben Sobel as Head of Emerging Markets. Ben has over 15 years of experience in Emerging Markets, in senior sales and trading roles at Lehman Brothers, Nomura, Bank of America and most recently Goldman Sachs. 

Broadway Technology, a provider of front-office solutions, promoted Claudia Cantarella to Chief Legal Officer. She will also join the Executive Leadership Team and direct the company’s global legal and regulatory activity, and guide corporate strategy and development. Cantarella brings more than 25 years of legal, regulatory and corporate strategy experience to her role as Chief Legal Officer, including heading the legal operations for Broadway as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for the past eight years. 

Solidatus, a provider of metadata management software, named Lorraine Waters as its first Chief Data Officer. Waters joins from HSBC, where she served in various roles such as Chief Data Officer for Global Compliance, Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance, Interim Chief Data Officer (US), and Group Head of Data Governance and Deputy Group CDO. Prior to HSBC, she held roles at a number of global banks including Global Head of Data Management at RBS.

Vanguard promoted Sara Devereux, currently global head of rates, to global head of Vanguard Fixed Income Group. Devereux will replace the retiring John Hollyer and start her new position on July 1. Devereux brings more than 20 years’ investment experience to her new role. She was named Vanguard’s global head of rates in 2019, when she joined the firm from Goldman Sachs, where she spent two decades specializing in mortgage-backed securities and structured products. 

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Alex Oh resigned her position as Director of the Division of Enforcement for personal reasons. Melissa Hodgman will return to the role of Acting Director of the Division of Enforcement. Hodgman served as the Enforcement Division’s Acting Director from January 2021, through April 2021. Before that, she was the Associate Director in the SEC’s Home Office since October 2016.
