IN MEMORIAM: 30 Year Trader Robert Mattis Passes

In the wake of the birth of a new Presidential administration, Wall Street celebrates the passing of one of its own.

According to a note obtained by Traders Magazine, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority reported that its former colleague, Robert Mattis, passed away on January 16th surrounded by his family at Overlook Hospital.

Born in Forest Hills, NY, Mattis was a securities trader for over 30 years. He was a member and past president of the Security Traders Association of New York (STANY). He was also a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

In the note, FINRAs John Farley said that Bob was a true gentleman, a generous friend to the industry, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

He is predeceased by his brothers Steven and Richard. Mattis is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Cronin) Mattis, his loving sons and their spouses Bob and Karina, Jim and Kim and cherished daughter, Katie Mattis. Also surviving are his dear grandchildren Patrick, Jack, Kevin, Allison, Samantha and Grady, his brother Frank and sister-in-laws Paula and Agnes.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 9:30am at St. Michael’s Church, 40 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ.
