Can you imagine Wall Street meets Jerry Garcia?
In what seems like the most unlikely of meetings, fans of the late musician from the Grateful Dead that work in what could be described as one of the more stodgy of fields are getting together for their annual networking and social event. The Wall Street Dead aHead Networking Events (WSDA) will hold its 7th Annual Sold Out Event on October 24th, 2017.
The invitation-only Event will be held at 404 NYC, located at 404 Tenth Avenue between West 31st and 33rd Streets.
Five years ago, portfolio manager Deborah Solomon created WSDA as a fun way for her fellow Dead Heads to share their love of the Grateful Dead and productively network. Wall Street Dead aHead Networking Events are specifically designed to merge the Dead Head community spirit with the finance industry. This unique annual event has proven remarkably effective in providing attendees with a comfortable environment to form connections and boasts six sold out events thus far. The Event’s attendees and Family Members are personally vetted by Solomon, forming a balance of like-minded people from all areas of the Wall Street community.
And one must love the Grateful Dead to be considered for admittance – no posers or casual listeners. Be prepared to fill out an extensive application that among its questions, asks, What is your favorite Dead tune. And Solomon takes the questions response to heart when deciding who to admit to this exclusive, yet informal event.
We have turned the Annual Event into an active Networking Community, Solomon said. Smaller events for Family Members include: Jam Sessions, NextGen hangs, Ladies hangouts and Premier Sponsor VIP Events. These have proven that music brings us together in a way that nothing else can. Watching Family Members become friends, then family and do business together is amazing.
This year the get together looks to benefit the S.O.U.L. Foundations Community Birthing Center. The goal is for WSDA to help S.O.U.L help build a state-of-the-art Birthing Center in the Jinja District of Eastern Uganda. As Solomon tells it, Ugandan women and their newborns continue to die needlessly from preventable causes resulting from poor quality maternal healthcare. Through working partnerships with local community stakeholders, construction of a Birthing Center will provide a mother-centric healthcare model that will augment and strengthen the current Ugandan healthcare system, she said.
Premier Sponsors for this year include: BANQ, a division of TriPoint Global Equities LLC, CBOE, Clean Energy Advisors, ClearTrust LLC, Cohn Reznick LLP, GPB Capital Holdings LLC, Pryor Cashman LLP, PubCo Reporting Solutions Inc., Sichenzia Ross Ference Kesner LLP, Stage Trip Industries, and Sterling Affair.
