TRADING UP: Schroders Promotes Kyrklund; STA Tabs Combs for Planning

As part of a group re-organization, UK-based fund manager has divided the leadership of its 78 billion multi-asset and portfolio solutions business, promoting one of the most influential women in European finance in the process, according to media reports. Schroders new chief executive Peter Harrison, who stepped up to replace the long-standing Michael Dobson in April, confirmed the move to divide MAPS into separate divisions covering multi-asset investments and portfolio solutions in a June 22 statement.Johanna Kyrklund, formerly head of multi-asset funds was promoted to global head of multi-asset investments, while John McLaughlin and Andrew Connell will co-lead the portfolio solutions team.

The Security Traders Association has namedDawn Combsas its new vice president, head of planning & product services. Combs, based in Chicago, will be responsible for managing all aspects of STAs Annual Market StructureConference and other STA National events and developing the groups relationships with current and prospective sponsors as well as contributing to the development of a strategic business plan that includes membership, education and STA affiliate services. She comes to STA after a long career with The Options ClearingCorporation and The Options Industry Council (OIC) where she was most recently vice president, Industry Services. Michelle Lindenberger, will remain in her role as director, head of marketing and will assume a new responsibility for heading up STAs Women in Finance initiative.

Greenhill & Co., a Toronto-based investment firm, landedSteve Mayeras a new managing director to oversee the firms Canadian business. Mayer comes from Goldman Sachs where he spent the over 10 years. In a statement, Greenhill confirmed that Mayer is replacing Brad Crompton, 61, who helped Greenhill develop its business in Canada and is now switching to a senior adviser role, working with key clients. Mayer reports to chief executive officer Scott Bok.

As part of its expansion, Brean Capital has landedChristopher Hoggas its managing director and head of capital markets for both debt and equitytransactions. Hogg is no stranger to Wall Street, spending the last 23 years as head of product development and head of FIG capital markets at Goldman Sachs. At Goldman he responsible for the development of the trust preferred/capital securities product, which became a major capital-raising strategy for banks, insurers and other financial institutions around the world. He has also done stints at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Macquarie Capital and inCapital.
