Redline Delivers Stock Data Updates In Under Two Microseconds

Redline Trading Solutions, a provider of high-speed trading products for high-frequency traders, announced InRush 3, its next-generation accelerated ticker plant that updates exchange stock data in less than two microseconds.

InRush 3 delivers traders a full review of market data from all exchanges in about 1.2 microseconds, according to Mark Skalabrin, chief executive at Redline.  That’s down from five microseconds, he added. Through new technology and server processors, the new system allows more data to pass through fewer servers, reducing latency and allowing firms to trade faster.

The plant merges prices and sizes of orders for all NYSE Euronext, Nasdaq OMX, BATS Global Markets and Direct Edge, to create a view of the complete market for shares in a given stock at different prices, Skalabrin said.

"The new advances allow a burst performance of up to 100 million messages per second on a single server," he said.

Earlier this spring, Redline offered brokers pre-trade risk check software that performs in less than one microsecond. The service, Pre-Trade Risk Solution, performs risk checks in the 400 to 900 nanosecond range, depending on the broker’s risk check configuration.
