TRADERS ON THE MOVE: York Capital Equities Head Leaves, FIG Hires Trading/Sales Pair

Michael Weinberger, the head of U.S. equities at $23 billion York Capital Management, is leaving to start his own hedge fund. Weinberger, who has worked at the New York-based firm since July 2000, plans to depart on Jan. 31, according to a letter sent to clients Monday that was obtained by Bloomberg. York CIO Dan Schwartz will take over Weinbergers role as co-manager of the York Select Fund alongside David Damast. The $875 million fund fell more than 15 percent in 2015 through November, though had returned an average of 12 percent a year from July 2002 through November.

FIG Partners has hired institutional equity Sales executive Bill Henningson, formerly of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW) as an Associate Director, Institutional Sales. Henningson has nearly 20 years of financial services experience, working on the sellside, buyside and in banking. He most recently worked at UBS AG as Executive Director, Financial/Real Estate Sector Sales Specialist, which included regional/community banks. From 1998 to 2012, he worked for KBW, where he was a Senior Vice President in institutional equity Sales, with a focus on banks and other financial institutions.

The firm reported that Senior Vice President Alex Krasutsky, who joined FIG in 2015, has been promoted to Director, Head of Equity Sales and Trading. Krasutsky has more than 25 years of sales and trading experience. He comes from KBW where he spent 12 years. Earlier in his career, he worked as a sales trader at Tucker Anthony, and was a Member of the NYSE.

Gregory Jannetta has joined William ONeil + Co. as Executive Vice President and Head of Institutional Sales. Jannetta will lead the sales teams global reach, focusing on equity research and advisory services. Jannetta has more than 20 years of institutional sales experience, having held senior executive positions in managing sales teams for Janney Capital Markets, Macquarie Capital, and UBS Investment Bank. Previously, he achieved top research sales rankings in a position with Credit Suisse. Jannetta started his Wall Street career at Sanford C. Bernstein, selling equity research.

The firm also brought on Michael Gardner, CFA, as Executive Vice President-Director of Research.. Gardner brings to the firm nearly two decades of experience implementing highly successful growth initiatives at Wedbush Securities. His numerous executive roles there include Vice President & Managing Director-Director of Research; Senior Vice President & Managing Director-Head of Investment Banking Division; Executive Vice President-Co-Head of Capital Markets; and Executive Vice President-Head of Private Client Services Group. Most recently, he held the position of Managing Director, Wedbush Asset Management LLC.

Lastly, the broker hired Willie Yandow as a Managing Director. Yandow brings more than 20 years of experience at Deutsche Bank, where he became expert at growing accounts by understanding clients investing style and tailoring his services to their needs. Yandow held multiple positions at Deutsche Bank during his tenure, including Account Captain, Institutional Equity Sales, Special Situations Accounts; Managing Director of Institutional Middle Market Sales; and Regional Manager, Boston Office US Equity Sales.

Macquarie Securities announced the appointment of Christine Farkas as Head of U.S. Equity Research. Farkas joins Macquarie from BMO Capital Markets, where she headed U.S. Equity Research since September 2012. Prior to BMO Capital Markets, Ms. Farkas was a senior and highly ranked equity analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for more than 17 years. During her career she has covered numerous sectors in consumer, energy technology and industrial areas. She has been recognized by Institutional Investor, Greenwich Associates, FT Starmine and The Wall Street Journals Best on the Street surveys for her research.
