TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Weeden Expands Prime Services, Portware Names FX Head

Weeden Prime Services has hired Robert Jordan, Andrew Brown and Robert Kalaf in an expansion of the prime broker’s sales and client services teams. Jordan comes to Weeden by way of Wells Fargo’s Prime Brokerage division, where he was a partner since 2008 and instrumental in establishing and expanding Wells Fargo’s presence in the Boston area. He expected to play a similar role at Weeden, according to a press release. Brown was also partner in Wells Fargo’s Prime Brokerage division since 2007, where he worked extensively with emerging managers and family offices throughout the country. Kalaf was previously with Jefferies & Co. prime brokerage division for the past four years, where he interfaced with and supported several of Jefferies’ clients.

Citigoup named former Deutsche Bank executives Simon Kempton and Daniel Caplan to senior roles in its prime services business. Caplan and Kempton last week left Deutsche Bank, where Kempton was head of the prime brokerage business internationally-within the broader prime-finance unit-and Caplan was head of European prime finance.

Triad Securities hired Kevin Heal to develop its global fixed Income sales desk. Heal, a marke3t veteran with over 25 years of experience, began his career with PainWebber with various sales, trading and marketing positions in fixed-income and later moved to Deutsche Bank where he focused on covering hedge funds, asset managers and regional dealers. He has also done stints at FreddieMac, BNP Paribas and Cohen & Co.

Portware has appointed Christopher Matsko as its head of foreign exchange trading services. Matsko brings over a decade of experience in FX business development with a proven track record serving the U.S. and Canadian markets and will work closely with to develop the firm’s next generation FX solutions. Prior to Portware, he held senior sales roles at 360T, Thomson Reuters FXall, Associated Foreign Exchange, and Capital Markets Services.

CME Group’s global business development head Michael O’Connell has left the firm as part of a recent wave of job cuts. O’Connell also served as a CME Europe board member.

Brevan Howard Asset Management has hired Michael Lyublinsky, formerly RBC’s global head of trading, to run fixed-income trading in the Americas. He is based in New York.
