TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Two Sigma Hires New CEO; REDI Gets New Tech Head

Two Sigma Securities, the broker-dealer affiliate of the investment manager Two Sigma Investments, hired Simon Yates as its new chief executive officer. Yates, a market veteran with 22 years experience, comes from Citi, where spent the last four years and was most recently global head of equity derivatives. Prior to that, he did a 13 year stint at Credit Suisse where he was global head of equity derivatives and co-head EMEA equities for four years. Also, he spent nine years as a derivatives trader at Credit Suisse. Yates also was an equity derivatives trader at JP Morgan for four years in London. Two Sigma Securities makes a market in more than 7,800 symbols.

Canid Asset Management, a Silicon Valley-based boutique asset management firm, hired Fred Hughes as a partner and technical director. Hughes has more than twenty years of experience in financial markets, including implementing trading technology systems, proprietary trading, risk management, and business building on small and large platforms. Most recently, he founded Intrinsic Management LLC in 2014. Prior to that, he started Systematic Financial in 2006 where he built and managed software-based trading models that focus on large cap companies listed on the on the NYSE and Nasdaq markets.

Earlier, he spent three years as a managing director and head of Nasdaq trading at Wells Fargo Securities, where he built and led an institutional trading team of 10 professionals and was responsible for facilitating all capital commitments in Nasdaq securities. He started his career at Robertson Stephens, where he was directly responsible for managing over 50 Nasdaq Market Makers in over 500 Nasdaq securities. He was a managing director and co-head of Nasdaq trading there.

Michael Sirchia has joined REDI Global Technologies as its new head of infrastructure. In this role, Sirchia is responsible for the entire REDIPlus application infrastructure across systems, networks, and storage, including the build-out and migration to REDI’s global data centers. Sirchia is a veteran with over 17 years of experience managing infrastructure for low latency and mission-critical trading platforms. Most recently, he was the head of performance engineering for the electronic trading group at JP Morgan. Prior that he served as the director of platform engineering for the systematic trading group at Citigroup. Sirchia has also held positions with Lava Trading and Greenwich Technology Partners. He reports to Josh Schubkegel, REDI’s chief technology officer.

Thinspace, a provider of delivery, virtualization, and cloud client technology, has named Christopher Bautista as chief executive officer of Thinspace Technology. Bautista replaces Owen Dukes. Most recently, he served as a principal at Infosys Limited. Bautista started his career in technology and strategy working for management consulting firms Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and Diamond Technology Partners (now PwC).
