TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Top Electronic Pro Finds New Home at Tradebook

Stan Craig joined Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. as a vice president on the firm’s broker-dealer sales desk. Craig, a 14 year professional, is responsible for growing the firm’s NMS, OTC, and international business flow. Previously, he spent seven years at Vertical Group and Wachovia Securities. He reports to James Smyth, managing director and head of the broker-dealer desk.

Charles Sweeney joined JMP Group as a managing director and director of trading in the San Francisco-based firm’s New York office. As such, Sweeney will have responsibility for JMP Securities’ institutional equity trading and sales trading activities. Sweeney will report to Tom Wright, JMP’s newly hired director of equities. Before joining JMP Securities, Sweeney spent seven months as co-head of U.S. equity trading at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. Before that, he was head of cash equity trading and sales trading at Susquehanna Financial Group for three years. Sweeney is a veteran of Merrill Lynch’s equity trading department, having spent 16 years there from 1991 until 2007.

Investment Technology Group added three pros to its program trading and single stock desks. On the portfolio side, ITG hired two from Knight Capital Group. Jenkins Marshall joined as a managing director and head of U.S. portfolio trading. Tom Caputo also joined as a managing director on the desk. Both traders spent 9 years at Knight. They report to Mike Marrale, ITG’s head of research, sales and trading. The brokerage also hired Brian Fenske from Nomura Securities as a sector trader covering technology, media and telecommunications.

Andrew Larkin, a longtime electronic trading executive, joined Bloomberg Tradebook. Larkin left Investment Technology Group in December as a result of a downsizing. The executive spent nearly 20 years at ITG in two stints, with various sales and management responsibilities. Larkin holds similar duties at Tradebook as a “team leader.”

Former sales trader Patrick Duffy joined Eaton Vance as a sales executive in a department at the Boston money management firm that caters to plan sponsors. Duffy spent about 16 years as a sales trader at UBS, Friedman Billings Ramsey, Leerink Swann, and C.L King and Associates. Based in Boston, Duffy is a former member of the Boston chapter of the Security Traders Association.
