Traders On the Move: Tabb Hires a Trio, Oppenheimer Grabs a Trading Head

Tabb Group has hired Tom Lehrkinder and Callie Bost as research analysts to further strengthen their derivatives practice. Lehrkinder and Bost are based in New York and will focus on the global listed derivatives markets for Tabbs research and consulting practices, reporting to Andy Nybo, partner, global head of research and consulting.

A seasoned industry professional, Lehrkinder brings to Tabb more than 25 years experience with listed derivatives, including front-office sales and trading, operations, risk management, IT management, product development and control, as well as compliance. Most recently, he was the global project manager at TradingScreen, supporting multiple product development streams. Additionally, Lehrkinder previously held positions with Jefferies Bach, HSBC and Credit Suisse.

Bost focuses her analysis on market structure, regulation, technology and trader psychology in exchange-traded options and futures. She joins from her role as a reporter for Bloomberg News, where she contributed to coverage of U.S. equities and options on broad-market indices, ETF (exchange-traded funds) and single stocks, and was responsible for the daily options column. She also covered corporate bonds and credit default swaps (CDS) for their news operation.

Also joining Tabb in its Metrics group is Paul Schmid as Director of Sales for Clarity, the U.S. Equities Best Execution Service. Based in New York, he is responsible for driving client growth throughout North America. An industry veteran, Schmid brings more than a decade of experience in strategic business development, new account acquisition, territory management and securities industry operations for both the buy-side and sell-side communities. His area of expertise is financial technology platforms with a focus on algorithmic trading strategies, alternative trading systems and portfolio trading applications, as well as low-latency trading infrastructure, pre- and post-trade analytics and market micro-structure.

Prior to joining Tabb, Schmid was director of strategy and business development at Mismi Inc. a spin-off of Axioma Inc., leading the firms new business development initiative of quantitative trading IP, brokerage and consulting services. His career includes senior business development roles in national sales at Instinet, Liquidnet and Lime Brokerage.

Oppenheimer nnounced that Anthony Mancini has joined as Head of Institutional Municipal Bond Trading. Mancini, a seasoned expert in the space, will be based at the firms New York headquarters and will report to Robert Lowenthal, Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Fixed Income.
Mancini will supervise all Institutional Municipal Bond Trading and will personally trade institutional tax-exempt bonds maturing in less than 15 years.

Mancini began his career at J.P. Morgan Securities, where he spent 13 years in its Municipal Bond Department. He later worked at Morgan Stanley as a Municipal Bond Trader and was most recently at TD Securities as Head of Municipal Bond Trading.

ITG announced that Brian Cartwright has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Cartwright is currently a Senior Advisor to Patomak Global Partners LLC, a regulatory consulting firm, and also serves on the board of HCP, Inc., a real estate investment trust. From 2006 to 2009, he served as General Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and before that served in various senior management positions at Latham & Watkins. He began his law career as a law clerk to Associate Justice Sandra Day OConnor on the U.S. Supreme Court.

CurveGlobal – the futures market being planned by the London Stock Exchange and major banks – has boosted its high-frequency trading know-how by hiringDRW Trading Group’s Steven Hamilton in its business development team. He is responsible for proprietary trading accounts and market-makers. Hamilton has been with DRW in London for eight years, effectively managing all of the firm’s compliance and external relationships, including those with exchanges, regulators and other trading counterparts. Before DRW Hamilton worked at the UK financial regulator, then called the Financial Services Authority, and Liffe, the derivatives exchange now owned by the Intercontinental Exchange. CurveGlobal, which was formally announced by the LSE last October, is set to be launched in the second quarter of this year and is jointly owned by the UK exchange, along with five banks and US options exchange CBOE Holdings.
