TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Small Broker-Dealers Get Larger

Brian Alvarez joined J.P. Morgan Securities as a sales trader on its single-stock derivatives flow desk. Alvarez was previously with Citigroup where he managed healthcare and risk arbitrage derivative flow trading, according to his Linkedin entry.

At Sungard Brokerage & Securities Services, Mike Schutt, has been promoted to the head of the firm’s Fox River Execution Solutions business.  Schutt was formerly the head of execution.  In addition, Paul Daley is now the head of execution and account management.  Daley runs SunGard’s Fox River Execution Solutions trading desk and is responsible for managing all existing account relationships.

Chris Arrix joined MKM Partners as an executive director and head of electronic equity sales. Prior to MKM, Arrix spent seven years as an electronic trading sales executive at J.P. Morgan Securities.

Jane Street hired Drew Krichman as a managing director. Krichman will be responsible for developing new ways for firms to interact with Jane Street’s liquidity. The exec came from GETCO Execution Services where he was responsible for all sales and customer relationships. Krichman has also had senior sales roles at Island ECN and Nasdaq.

John Benedickson joined Maxim Group as a managing director and head of institutional sales trading. Benedickson will partner with Jamie Barker, managing director and head of research sales, in running the day-to-day operations of Maxim’s institutional equities business. Benedickson was previously at Convergex for one-and-a-half years. He has over two decades worth of institutional sales trading experience, according to Maxim, including managing the sales trading operations for 9 years at NDB Capital Markets.
