TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Russo and O’Connor Leave GSET

Tom Russo, a vice president in algorithmic sales trading at GSET for the last 14 years, resigned last Monday and is going to Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a vice president . He will be joining the firm in June covering hedge fund clients. He will report to Anthony LaSalle, director in the firm’s global execution services group.

Also leaving GSET is Jeff O’Connor, a sales trader, who is joining Sanford Bernstein. He will be covering hedge funds there.

Marc Angelos, a senior electronic sales trader joins Societe Generale. Angelos comes from UBS, where over the last two years he was responsible for DMA and algorithmic trading flow. Prior to that, he was at Barclays on the electronic trading desk covering hedge funds. He has also done stints at Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley and Instinet.


Adam Orenstein, a managing director at ITG in electronic sales trading, joins Sanford Bernstein. Sara Baker, another ITG alumni and sales trader, joins Wells Fargo as a director. Baker also was a sales trader at Merrill Lynch.


Chris Shea joins Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a vice president to work in its San Francisco office focusing on electronic, portfolio and ETF products for West Coast clients. He reports to Rod Burns. Shea worked at Credit Suisse in the firm’s San Francisco office.
