TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Olivetree Bulks Ups U.S. Office, Hires O’Shea as Trader

Olivetree Group, a global financial services firm, has hired five new staffers.

Chris Pilder as chief executive of its U.S. business, Edward Laux as U.S. National Sales Manager, Laura Kaster, CFA-Sector Strategist, Financials, Event Driven Group, Pamela Woodruff as Executive Director Sales Trading Boston and David O’Shea as Execution/Sales Trader.

Pilder, a 27 year veteran, will be responsible for expanding and building upon Olivetree’s footprint in the U.S. Most recently, he served as Co-Head of Equities at CRT Capital Croup LLC, Director of Equity Trading at CSFB, DLJ as Co-Head of Block Trading, as well as 11 years at Salomon Brothers.

Laux brings more than 35 years of experience with him to his new role and will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s U.S. sales force capability, and will report to Chris Pilder. Laux served as Managing Director of Equity Trading at CRT Capital Group LLC. Previously, he also served as Head of U.S. Equity Trading at Cantor Fitzgerald & Company, Partner & Senior Managing Director at A.B.N. Amro and Co-Head US Equity Trading at Kidder Peabody.

Kaster, with over 20 years in the business, has both experience as an analyst and investment banker. Most recently she led the financials coverage for Bloomberg’s first word product for 5 years as a senior analyst and strategist. Prior, she was also a senior analyst for Sandler O’Neill & Partners covering diversified financial companies before eventually being recruited to its investment banking department. She also worked as an equity analyst at Piper Jaffrey and ABN Amro.

Woodruff, also a pro with over 20 years of experience, was a Past President of the Boston Securities Traders Association and most recently spent 15 years at Stephens Inc. as SVP Institutional Equity Sales Trading, and prior to that worked as VP Institutional Equity Sales Trading at Fahnestock as well as at Fidelity Capital Mkts.

O’Shea, a trading veteran has over 25 years in the business, came from Stern Agee after 10 years where he was Managing Director, Head Trader. Prior, he was also Head Trader for Needham & Co and started his trading career at Fox- Pitt.

TABB Group Hired Terry Roche as a principal, head of fintech research. Roche, a 30 year veteran, is charged with expanding the firm’s technology coverage beyond data & analytics. He is based in New York. Prior to TABB, Roche served as chief operating officer at NYSE Technologies, joining NYSE after holding senior executive positions at Thomson Reuters and Reuters, including: managing director, global head of Elektron Real Time and Platform, creating the strategic plan and delivered Elektron’s next-generation data collection and data feeds using the Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform, which also serves as the real time platform for Eikon; executive vice president/global head, Enterprise Platform; and global head of strategic business for focus group accounts, responsible for strategic engagement with the top 24 major client accounts supporting material and enterprise license agreements.
He also held senior positions at HSBC that included global head of market data, head of global middleware and commercial director, fixed income e-commerce. He also spent two years at Salomon Brothers, responsible for day-to-day market data trading floor operations; ten years at Republic National Bank of New York as head of trading infrastructure and data; and WhiteTree Solutions, an advisory firm he founded.
The market consultancy also promoted Matt Simon, a principal at the firm and its former head of futures research, to oversee the firm’s consulting and advisory services business. Simon joined the firm in November 2005 as a research analyst, following four years with T. Rowe Price Associates. He was promoted to senior analyst in 2012 and named head of futures research in 2014.
He reports to Anthony Perrotta and Andy Nybo, partners, global heads of research and consulting.
ITG appointed Nick Johnston as Managing Director and European Head of Sales Trading. Johnston will lead the firm’s European high-touch business. He joins ITG from Barclays Capital where he held the position of Head of European Sales Trading and has previously served in similar roles at both JP Morgan and Lehman Brothers.
