TRADERS ON THE MOVE: NYSE”s Mecane to Join Barclays, KCG Alum to Big Data Firm

Joseph Mecane, previously executive vice president at the New York Stock exchange, has joined Barclays bank in its equities division. Mecane, a 16 year veteran, was a fixture in the equities trading world frequently seen at industry events and as a spokesman for the exchange. It was reported back in May that Mecane would leave the exchange as it was being integrated with the InterContinental Exchange. Prior to joining the NYSE is 2008, he was a managing director at UBS. Before that, he spent five years as chief operating officer at Knight Capital Group.

Independent investment advisor Affinity Investment has named David Sugimoto and Erin Ksenak as portfolio managers. The pair are charged with spearheading the launch and distribution of the firm’s international and global products. Sugimoto, a pro with over 30 years experience in international investing, has worked in senior portfolio management roles at Teacher Retirement System of Texas, USAA Investment Management, 1838 Investment Advisors, and Morgan Stanley Investment Management. He also co-founded Echo Point Investment Management in 2010.Ksenak, a five year pro, has worked at Morgan Stanley, Echo Point Investment Management and Miller Investment Management.

Ken Cutroneo joined Minetta Brook, a Big Data Intelligence company as sales director. Cutroneo, a 21 year veteran of Wall Street, previously was with KCG’s Institutional Electronic Sales and Trading group where he worked with buy- and sellside management teams to evaluate electronic trading, execution and order management system selection and implementation; to simplify work flow, ensure best execution, anonymity, risk management, and compliance. At Minetta, he told Traders that he plans to leverage his previous experience in electronic trading and as the head trader at hedge fund Obrem Capital Management to help develop and introduce data analytics usage to the financial community.

INTL FCStone Securities, a market makers and broker-dealer has hired Steve Carolus as a vice president responsible for securities sales. Carolus, a 28-year pro, is charged with running the firm’s new OTC business, listed equity trading and fixed income trading. He is known for building E*trade’s forex business for more than ten years until leaving with his team to do the same for Citadel Securities two years ago.
