TRADERS ON THE MOVE: ITG Hires A Pair for the Program Desk

Agency-only broker ITG has made two senior hires for its program trading desk and added three other agency traders. Jenkins Marshall and Tom Caputo joined the program desk. Marshall, a 26 year veteran, was hired as the head of portfolio trading. He has traded at Knight Capital, Citigroup, Nomura and UBS. Caputo, a 17year pro, previously worked as a senior program trader at Knight Capital, Citigroup and Bear Stearns.

Rob Cohen, Brian Fenske and Tommy Labenz joined as agency traders covering telecom, media & technology sectors and retail sectors. Cohen, a 28 year equity market veteran, was head of technology trading at Jefferies & Company and head of listed technology trading at both J.P. Morgan and Credit Suisse. He also did stints at Morgan Stanley and Drexel Burnham. Fenske, a 9 year pro, comes from Nomura where he was a desk analyst. Labenz, Consumer: A 17-year equity market veteran, Mr. Labenz previously was head of consumer retail trading at Jefferies and Company and head of trading at First Albany Corporation. He also worked in trading roles at Imperial Capital, J.P.Morgan and Hambrecht & Quist. 

Gain Capital, a provider of online trading services, has hired Peter Cronin grow the company’s institutional business, GTX, in the EMEA. Previously, Cronin was head of EMEA e-Commerce at UBS Investment Bank, where he managed a 16-person sales team situated in Zurich, Lugano, Dubai and the United Kingdom. During his 13 years at UBS, he held other senior roles related to its e-commerce business.

Natan Tiefenbrun, Turquoise’s Derivatives chief executive since November last year, has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in its equities division. His official start date is unknown, yet. Also, no official title he been awarded and the nature of his new role is not known. An LSE spokesman confirmed his departure from Turquoise. He will remain with the LSE Group, which purchased Turquoise, until a replacement is found.

UBS has hired sales trader John O’Hagan. O’Hagan spent 13 years trading at Morgan Stanley and 5 at Credit Suisse – all of which were covering technology, media and telecom stocks.
