TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Instinet Promotes a Pair, Mischler Hires Sales/Trading Head

Agency-only broker Instinet named two new executives to senior positions. First, Chuck Frederick has been named head of U.S. product sales. In this role, Frederick and his team will work across the sales, product strategy and development groups to help grow the firm’s three core electronic trading products -its Newport EMS, Execution Experts algorithmic suite and the Instinet Analytics platform. Previously, he served as global head of algo development in the firm’s global trading research group.

Tom Whelan has also been named head of the U.S. institutional and derivatives sales teams. In this role, Whelan and his team will work closely with the product sales and sales trading groups to coordinate the firm’s U.S. sales strategy. He has held a variety of senior sales and trading roles over the course of his career at Instinet, most recently leading the New York product sales team.

Both report to Mark Govoni, head of U.S. sales and trading.

Miami-based ARCA Capital Investments has hired Jody Giraldo. Giraldo, a 15-year market pro, will work with 22-year Wall Street veteran Paul Allegra, covering institutional clients from Latin America in the U.S., as well as focusing on global equity execution. He spent the majority of his career, 13 years, at EquityStation where most recently he was senior vice president and developed, launched and maintained the EquityStation trading platform. While there, he cultivated relationships with institutional and retail clients based in Latin America that were seeking access to U.S. equity markets. He did a brief 10 month stint at Vector Global before joining ARCA. He reports to Indra Campbell, ARCA chief executive and head trader Eugene Bodden.

Mischler Financial Group, a Service-Disabled Veteran’s Owned Broker, hired Marc Stuzynski as its new director, equities sales/trading. He will be based out of the firm’s Boston office. Stuzynski, a 21-year professional, spent the last nine years at for Canaccord Genuity in Boston, most recently as managing director, U.S. equities trading. He also has a background in fixed-income sales/trading, as his earlier career includes 7 years as an institutional fixed income broker for Hilliard Farber & Co. He reports to the firm’s global head of equities Joe Digiammo.

Alternative investment manager Investcorp has hired Franklyn Chang as a managing director. Chang, a pro with over 20 years experience, is charged with helping grow the firm’s hedge fund group’s assets under management. He was most recently responsible for the global distribution of alternative investment funds at Eaton Partners, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds. During his eight year tenure at Eaton Partners, he also served as both partner for U.S. distribution and managing partner for the European and Middle East Distribution.
