TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Duo Depart Deutsche Bank for Citi

Cornelius Griffin and Paul Mandell, both former Deutsche Bank alumni, are heading for Citi. Plus, one former RBC executive who is returning to his program trading roots.

Cornelius Griffin, head of exotics trading at Deutsche Bank joins Citi. At Citi, Griffin will continue trading exotics and VIX-linked products.

Also joining Citi from Deutsche bank is Paul Mandell, a single-stock options flow trader.  Mandell will be co-head of single-stock equity derivatives trading at the firm. Prior, he traded single-stock options at Deutsche Bank. Before that, Mandell traded single-stock options and made market in listed and over-the-counter options at BNP Paribas. Before that, he worked as a sales trader at Wachovia.

They will report to managing director Peter Lambrakis, head of equity derivatives trading. Lambrakis also came to Citi from Deutsche Bank, where he was head of single stock trading, last July.

Both Griffin and Mandell start in June.


JPMorgan hires veteran program trader Kevin Varian. Varian comes from RBC where he spent the last two-and-a-half years and was head of US electronic sales trading. He will return to his program trading roots at JPMorgan. Prior to RBC, he was a director at Credit Suisse.
