TRADERS ON THE MOVE: ConvergEx Hires KCG Duo; Buysider Diamond Switches Firms

ConvergEx Group LLC has hired Nick Palumbo and Troy Draizen for its sales department, adding to the list of former KCG Holdings Inc. employees who’ve joined the broker. Palumbo, a pro with 11 years financial experience, came aboard as senior vice president in the electronic sales group. Prior, he spent almost eight and a half years at KCG, most recently as Director – Liquidity Strategy / Global Algorithmic Trading. Before that, Palumbo did stints at Citi and Aquifer Capital Management.

Draizen, a veteran with 10 years in the business, joined as a managing director in charge of electronic sales. He spent the last seven years at KCG, most recently as Director: Institutional Sales & Trading / Electronic Execution Desk. Prior to that, he spent two years as a Vice President at Sands Brothers Asset Management.

The firm also recently hires Philip Gough and John Holl in London. Gough, CEO of the firm’s London-based brokerage, was chief operating officer at KCG Europe, while Holl, who’s head of sales and trading in London, was head of European institutional equities at KCG.

Redline Trading Solutions hired Carlos Lopez Lansdowne to head up its EMEA sales operations from its new London office. Prior to joining Redline, Lansdowne held various senior positions over the past 20 years at Thomson Reuters, Fidessa, Superderivatives and Bloomberg.

The former head of asset management for Fidelity Investments has joined the board of directors for insurer Unim Group. According to a media reports, Ronald O’Hanley will serve on committees overseeing finance, risk and human capital, according to a statement the insurer based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While at Fidelity, the 58 year old O’Hanley managed an estimated $1.9 trillion in assets until he resigned in 2014. O’Hanley was hired by Fidelity following the credit crisis of 2008 and before that he was in charge of money management at Bank of New York Mellon Corp.

Spectrum Group Management hired Russell Diamond as a Managing Director. Diamond, a 12 market vet, came from Gates Capital Management, where he was responsible for all marketing and business development efforts. Prior to that, he spent eight years as a Managing Director at West Side Advisors. Diamond began his career at Prudential Securities.

IEX hired Claudia Crowley as its Chief Regulatory Officer, effective April 1. In this role, Crowley will oversee IEX’s compliance with its regulatory obligations. Crowley was previously the Chief Executive Officer of NYSE Regulation, and Chief Regulatory Officer of the three NYSE Euronext U.S. securities exchanges – the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE ARCA and NYSE MKT. At NYSE Regulation, Crowley managed all operational aspects, advising the NYSE Euronext executive management team on regulatory aspects of U.S. exchange initiatives. Prior to that, Crowley held a number of senior regulatory positions at NYSE Regulation and during her 25 year tenure at the American Stock exchange, including Chief Regulatory Officer.
