TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Convergex Hires Head of Ops, Nomura Snags Citi Equities Head

Agency-focused brokerage has hired Jason Emerson as a managing director and head of operations and strategic planning. In this new position, Emerson is responsible for overseeing the firm’s global operational initiatives. He is also a member of the executive committee, and will play an instrumental role in developing Convergex’s overall business strategy.

Emerson joins Convergex with nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. His areas of expertise include business and project management, strategic planning and financial regulation. He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer at GAIN Capital and has held various senior positions at firms including: Knight Capital Group, Instinet, Merrill Lynch and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Nomura has hired Michael Caperonis, the head of Citigroup’s equities trading for the Americas, for a broader leadership role in the Japanese bank’s securities division, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. Caperonis will join Nomura as head of equities and credit trading for the Americas, though won’t start until February, following a garden leave.

Investment veteran John Harrison, who’s wide-ranging financial services career spans more than three decades and includes senior positions at UBS Global Asset Management and Aon Hewitt, has left Henderson Global Investors after just over a year at the ?82 billion manager. Harrison had worked on Henderson’s 12-strong multi-asset team on a part-time basis – three days a week – since August 2014. A spokeswoman for Henderson confirmed on November 5 that Harrison left the asset manager at the end of October, adding it had been his decision to leave. At the time of his arrival, Henderson said Harrison’s multi-asset work would serve both its institutional and retail businesses.

Australian-based Metamako, the provider of deterministic ultra-low latency devices for the trading community, exchanges and telco providers, has announced the appointment of Alastair Richardson as the new head of business development for EMEA. This follows significant growth for the company since its launch in 2013, especially in North America and Europe.
Tick database and complex event processing software vendor OneMarketData has reorganized its global sales team following the departure of former senior vice president of global sales and marketing Richard Chmiel to join high-resolution satellite imagery analytics, demographic data and open-source research provider Remote System Metrics as chief executive. Ross Dubin, previously director of sales, has been promoted to global head of sales.
