TRADERS ON THE MOVE: Concannon to BATS; JPM Announces Execution Services Leaders

BATS Global Markets announced the appointment of Chris Concannon as its president. Concannon is no stranger to the equities market. Formerly the president of high-frequency trading firm Virtu, he has been a prominent figure in the ongoing debate between HFTs, the exchanges and the buyside. He spent six years at Nasdaq as executive vice president, transaction services. He will be based in New York as part of the firm’s executive committee. He will report to BATS chief executive Joe Ratterman.

JPMorgan has announced its management team for its J.P. Morgan Execution Services platform. The Execution Services group was formed to expand its agency execution capabilities across asset classes, in particular fixed-income, and investor services products.

Chris Bruner, who previously headed credit e-commerce, is now global head of execution services for credit, securitized products and public finance. Peter Ward, who had been global head of future and electronic options trading, will become global head of futures and options execution services, and head of Americas rates execution services. Richard James is head of currencies and emerging markets execution services. James Proudlock is head of commodities execution services and James Taylor is head of international rates execution services.

WhaleRock Point Partners has hired Tyson Reed as a partner. Reed, a veteran with over 20 years of experience, has worked primarily with high-net worth private clients and institutional managers. As a partner, he is responsible for business development, managing clients and advising them and their families in the principal focus areas of wealth management. He came from JPMorgan where he advised large clients in addressing their complex planning, banking, fiduciary, charitable and investment needs. Prior to that, he was at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, where he served as a private client advisor to high-net worth individuals and their families, including executives, proprietors, and prominent commercial clients. Before that, he was a vice president at Thomson Financial.

Dennis Miller joined the Board of Directors at Canaccord Genuity Group. Miller will serve as an independent director and expands the Board to ten, eight of whom are independent. Miller, a 25 year pro, has most of his time recently in the media and technology space. He began his career in the entertainment and tax department of the law firm of Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg and Tunney before becoming executive vice president of Turner Network Television between 1991 and 1995. Miller also serves on the Board of Directors of Radio One Inc., and Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc.

SS&C Technologies Holdings, a provider of financial services software and services, promoted Renee Mooney, senior vice president and nine year SS&C veteran, to lead the firm’s private equity fund administration business. Darren Berkowicz, a managing director, will expand his responsibilities to include SS&C’s New York-based fund services operations reporting to Ms. Mooney, and will manage the TNR Solution software business. Berkowicz will continue to manage SS&C’s alternative accounting and reporting platforms. Jay Maher, senior vice president will move to lead business development for SS&C’s private equity businesses, reporting to Fred Jacobs, North American head of business development for alternative assets.
