TRADERS ON THE MOVE: BATS Hires Duo for Data and ETF Business, Rosenblatt Hires Olin

BATS Global has brought on two more veterans to help the exchange grow its market data and exchange-traded funds listings business.The bourse has hired Kal Chan and Rob Marrocco, as the Director, Market Data Sales and Director of Listings, respectively.

Chan, who recently joined BATS, brings eight years of industry experience to the firm. Most recently, he was responsible for sales and account management at Interactive Data 7ticks where he worked with broker-dealers, investment banks and hedge funds to provide end-to-end trading solutions including trading access and market data. Prior to Interactive Data, Chan worked at Bloomberg as a sales and account manager, working with hedge fund and asset managers to provide trading analytics, electronic trading, and order management services tailored to clients’ investment strategies. He reports to Drew Carey, Director, Market Data Sales.

Marrocco came from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) where he was Associate on the Global Index and Exchange Traded Products team. In his role, he managed new exchange traded product (ETP) listings and supported NYSE Arca’s existing ETP business, liaising with issuers and market makers. Mr. Marrocco directed and administered NYSE Arca’s Lead Market Making (LMM) Program and worked with NYSE Regulation to ensure issuer adherence to listing standards. Marrocco reports to Laura Morrison, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Exchange Traded Products.

Chan and Marrocco are based in BATS’ New York office.

New York-based OptionMetrics, a source of historical option price data, tools and analytics, has hired Robert Siverson as vice president of operations. Siverson, an 18 year veteran, is responsible for heading up development, testing and operations at OptionMetrics. Before joining OptionMetrics, he served as director of systems & product strategy at the International Securities Exchange, where he spent the last 13 years. In that position he managed the development of a new trader workstation, PrecISE Trade and led other major project management initiatives to further diversify the firm’s revenue stream. Prior to that, he led the software development team at UBS Financial Services.

Dan Hinxman has joined BGC Partners as managing director and head of sales for EMEA and Asia Pacific. The former CME Europe sales head began in the new role last week and is based in London.

New York-based Drexel Hamilton, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Broker-Dealer, has hired Brian White as a senior equity analyst on the firm’s Technology/Media/Telecom research team. In this role, White will cover information technology and software stocks for Drexel Hamilton. He will report to Barry Sine, managing director of equity research. A 16-year professional, White joined the firm from Cantor Fitzgerald, where he served as global head of technology hardware and software research. He began his career with Merrill Lynch and has since covered a broad range of technology companies for firms such as Jeffries, Kaufman Brothers and Collins Stewart.

Rosenblatt Securities hired Chris Olin to its growing research team to cover the metals industry. Based in
Cleveland, Olin will cover publicly listed metals, specialty—materials and aerospace—supply companies,
such as Alcoa. A veteran with 20-years of experience, Olin spent the last 10 years covering metals at Cleveland Research. He was with Longbow research before that for three years.
