Here are some recent hires and promotions in the equities trading world as Wall Street pros make that move, right now.

Macro Risk Advisors hires two former Nomura sales traders for its equity derivatives desk: Brian Bier and Drew Forman. Bier, a veteran with more than 11 years of experience, will head the sales and execution team, overseeing the firm’s strategists in options analytics. While at Nomura, he was head of listed equity derivative trading. He has also held senior trading roles at Banc of America Securities and Lehman Brothers. He reports to chief executive Dean Curnutt.

Joining Bier is sales trader Forman. Forman, an eight-year trading veteran, has experience executing equity derivatives transactions in the listed and over-the-counter options market. He was a senior equity derivatives trader at Nomura Securities, where he worked alongside Biers to facilitate option trades on behalf of clients. He also did a stint at J.P. Morgan, where he was an equity derivatives trader focusing on the technology sector.

 


Jim Cochrane joins Investment Technology Group as its new director of analytics and product manager for its trade-cost analysis product for foreign exchange. Cochrane, an 18-year pro, has experience in both foreign exchange and emerging markets local currency sales, trading and analysis. At ITG, his focus will be on how clients can improve their international investment process, reduce their costs and improve returns. He was previously with Thomson Reuters for three years. He reports to Kevin O’Connor, managing director of ITG Analytics.

 

 


Albert Maasland joins Knight Capital as senior managing director and head of the international business. He is based in London and sits on the firm’s executive committee. Maasland is responsible for expanding Knight’s equities, foreign exchange and fixed income operations in the U.K., Europe and Asia. A 25-year veteran, he comes from Saxo Capital Markets, where he was chairman and head of Europe, Middle East and Americas. He reports to chief executive Tom Joyce.

 

 


 

Michael Drennan joins interdealer broker ICAP as head of its North America futures and options group, which is based in Chicago. Drennan, a veteran of more than 20 years, was previously with now-defunct MF Global, where he was head of sales for Asia. He also worked at Standard Chartered in Asia as global head of hedge fund sales. He is also an alum of Citigroup and Bank of America. He reports to Gary Pettit, global head of financial futures and options.
