James Brooks has been hired as vice president of U.S. product development at NYSE Euronext. Brooks was previously with Nasdaq OMX, where he spent 10 years and was an equities strategist. At NYSE Euronext, he will have a similar role and will be involved in pricing, routing and relationship management, particularly among the automated trading community. He will work across asset classes. Brooks reports to Joe Mecane, executive vice president and co-head if U.S. listing and cash execution.

 


 

Patrick D’Angelo joins Otkritie Capital, the U.S. subsidiary of Russian investment bank Otkritie Financial as director of equity sales trading. D’Angelo, a 20-year veteran, will lead the firm’s effort to establish a trading desk and sales effort for North America. He comes from hedge fund Hyerdale Capital, where he was a portfolio manager and managing partner for the last five years. Prior to that, he was head of equity trading at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and did a stint at Credit Suisse, managing its Asian equity trading desk.

 


 

ConvergEx Group has promoted R.G. Manalac to managing director for the Asia-Pacific region. He will continue to serve as director of Asia-Pacific consulting for the company’s Eze Castle Software. Manalac has been with ConvergEx more than eight years. Prior to joining the company, he was a hedge fund trader in San Francisco.

 


 

Jefferies hires Thomas Seitz as an equity research analyst covering U.S. telecom. Seitz, a 20-year veteran, will be launching research coverage on 12 companies, including AT&T, Century Link, Cogent and others. He comes from Height Analytics, an equity research boutique firm, where he was a managing director; prior to that, he was senior vice president in telecom equity research at Barclays for 10 years. He reports to Steven Black, global head of equity research.

 


 

David Harkey joins Traders Magazine as its advertising sales manager. He replaces Michael Moran. Harkey, a nine-year sales veteran, comes from Thomson Reuters, where he was director of sales, managing print and online advertising and conference sales for Buyouts Magazine, pehub.com and hedgeworld.com. In 2005 and 2006, he did a stint selling advertising for SourceMedia, the parent company of Traders Magazine. In his new role, he will be responsible for advertising sales for Traders Magazine, Clearing Quarterly & Directory and Securities Technology Monitor. He reports to publisher Ken Heath.
