Traders On The Move

Deborah P. O’Brien joins Cavallo Financial Marketing Group, where she will market a wide range of brokerage services for Bay Crest Partners. O’Brien, a trading veteran of more than 20 years, spent her career as a sales trader before moving to the buyside to become head trader at Allstate Insurance Co. Most recently, she spent two years at EMS provider Firefly Capital, where she was involved in sales, implementation and training. O’Brien reports to Greg Cavallo, CEO of Cavallo Financial Marketing. 

Jonathan Roth joins minority brokerage firm Blaylock Robert Van as a sales trader in New York. Roth, a 25-year trading veteran, had been on the buyside since 1987. He comes to Blaylock Robert Van from J. & W. Seligman & Co./RiverSource Investments. Roth reports to James Atwater, the firm’s executive vice president and national manager of sales trading. 

Christopher McGuigan joins Tullett Prebon Information as head of Americas for the real-time price information group. McGuigan, a 15-year pro, is responsible for growing the firm’s business across the Americas. He previously worked at MarketAxess for nine years, where he managed the data services business. He reports to Frank Desmond, managing director and global head of sales. 

Wedge Partners added four traders. They include Steve Doherty, a 20-year veteran who joins from the now defunct Pali International, where he was director of sector trading. Doherty also worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and Jefferies & Co. Tony Giovati, a 35-year veteran, joins from Ticonderoga Securities, where he was a senior vice president. Giovati began his career with E.F. Hutton before moving on to trading and management roles with Merrill Lynch and later Prudential Securities. Also, Ryan Smith joins from Kevin Dann Partners. He began his career at Lehman Brothers and Alliance Capital. Finally, Justin Weil, a 17-year veteran, joins the firm. In recent years he has been a proprietary trader at both First New York and RBC/G-2 Trading.
